Marlin XL7

Marlin Accuracy?

I am seriously thinking about getting a .308 Marlin; what sort of accuracy have your Marlin's been acheiving? How is the accu-trigger?

Groups of under an inch. with my 30-06 using hand loads. I like the trigger (its adjustable) and it has an actual working recoil pad. For a rifle that's under $400 I am happy.

That's the same answer I got when I called there last year, but I am sure I read on here somewhere that someone had a rifle shipped to them from BassPro.
My XS7 in a 308 came from BassPro and was done right over the phone? I payed $330 for it last winter. Someone must have messed things up for us if they stopped the mail order.

I was at epps yesterday and the XL7 was $460 I compared it to the stevens 200 and it was $346. I ended up walking away with the stevens as it just seems to be cheaper and for the simple purpose of hunting. The marlin is a bit nicer in fit and finish and the stock is a bit stiffer, and the trigger is better, but I am gonna put 20 rounds a year through the gun so why pay more. If you are gonna build a gun for the range the stevens offers better aftermarket parts availability. Stocks, triggers, and barrels are available from many companies for the stevens. All depends what you are looking for I guess.

That was the camo mind you. But yeah I talked to bass pro when doing some research and they were selling them for 340. So for the same price I might have bought the marlon, but I couldnt find one locally, and have had some real good lock with Savages so I chose the Stevens. It is a little lighter to, and like I said this is strictly a hunting rifle so I am happy. And I get to paint the stock. I love painting stuff. LOL. Damn that grey is ugly though. LOL
