Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to whales and porpoises.

People call them dolphins just like people call me kind. Neither are accurate. :)

people started calling them dolphin-fish to stop the confusion. porpoise are mammals. dolphin are fish. i have a McClane's New Standard Fishing Encyclopedia on my shelf. flip to dolphin. bang there's a mahimahi. same thing. i was talking about it with a marine biologist at the Vancouver Aquarium. she said that the mahimahi was called a dolphin long before the other dolphins and porpoises. she acknowledged that yes, porpoise are a separate species than the other dolphins, but that they are so close in relation, that she and most of her coworkers just refer to them all as porpoise. kind of like saying brown bear when referring to grizzly and kodiak bears. separate species, although virtually the same thing. the media is responsible for the influx of dolphinism as i call it.

THings from the above I want to know how they taste: guinea pig, wombat, robin, chickadees, pigeon, seagull.

guinea pig tastes like rabbit kinda, and wombat tastes kind of like a squirrel/rabbit i guess. I had it done in a cupmari (an underground oven)

porpoise are mammals. dolphin are fish.

Then what is a Bottlenose DOLPHIN? It's a mammal....

The Orca (killer whale) is actually a member of the DOLPHIN FAMILY and it's a mammal....

And no, dolphins and porpoises are not the same thing.

"Contrary to popular belief Mahi-mahi is in fact not related to the Delphinidae family of mammals whose common name is simply dolphin. "

Delphinidae - dolphin genera and species (in dolphin (mammal)), any of the toothed whales belonging to the families Delphinidae (oceanic dolphins) or Platanistidae (river dolphins). Of the 32 species of dolphins in the Delphinidae, 6 are commonly called whales, including the killer whale and the pilot whales.

Ok, now! Which one tastes like fish?

All the regular grocery store animals plus:
Deer, moose, caribou, elk, wild boar, beaver, ducks and geese, bear, grouse, pheasant, rabbit, red squirrel, wild turkey, rattle snake, almost all of the local fishes.

My list to try:
Raccoon, cougar and/or bobcat, seal, and anything else others are eating.

My wife has also tried horse (in France) and kangaroo.

Just the oddball stuff: horse, snake, crocodile, kangaroo, silkworm larvae, giant ants, raw salted pork fat.

OK, you have some of the most interesting posts (and therefore (assuming they are all true, and I have no reason to doubt that they are) interesting life)...so that seals it.....I want to come work with you for 6 months......seriously.

Looking? :)

All dolphins, including the bottlenose, are porpoises. Although some people use these names interchangeably, porpoises are actually a larger group that also includes animals like the orca and the beluga whale.

My list is pretty tame compared to some (most) so far. Just your basic farm animals, plus your standard wild game. About the only odd ones I can think of are black squirrel and crayfish. Squirrel tasted like chewing on a piece of fresh pine, so the dog got to finish it. The crayfish were not bad at all, very sweet as I recall.
