858 trigger mech gremlin

I looked through the threads and some of them are close, but aren't quite this.

When the action is cocked the first time, it will fire. Every subsequent shot however, will not. The trigger will not operate properly. It will pull all the way to the rear, sometimes with a light click, but will not fire.

It only happens when the trigger is depressed while the action is cycled. (IE, when firing)

Pulling the trigger to the right while depressing makes it fire again, but you have to do it every time. It's not 1/20 like I keep reading about. Every time.

It's guts looks the same as my other 858. I can't see any obvious problem. I bought it off another member of CGN and have messaged him about the problem. Rest assured, if smithing is required, he'll see the bill. It is unacceptable to receive a defective rifle. Took it out for the first time on thursday and had nothing but problems.


SUMMARY:

trigger will not work if action cycled with trigger depressed. (Unavoidable when shooting)

Pulling trigger to right while depressing usually works, but is awkward.


I want a working rifle, not one I have to fiddle with to work right.

Sounds like someone did some "gunsmithing" already, then decided to sell the rifle once it was "fixed."


Did you pay almost new price? If so, I'd ask the seller to pay for the parts kit or ask if I could return the rifle for my money back.

Or, did you get a smoking deal? If you paid $300 for it, chances are this was why

Either way, it sounds like a "parts kit" from Wolverine to replace the entire trigger group should solve your problem.

If you have lots of free time this weekend you could swap parts from your other rifle and find out the pieces that are causing you grief. Then post pics

What I believe is happening with your rifle is the trigger mech pins are moving out. Take a look at the right hand side of your rifle. You will notice the trigger mech pins. One slightly larger then the other. The big one is usually the problem. Try pushing in on both (just be sure) as hard as you can, EVEN if they do not look like they need to be, give it a try. Then #### your rifle try and activate the trigger by squeezing normally and not to the right. If it works then its simply that top pin is not pushing against the release to activate the firing pin spring to go forward. Since its only about a 1mm gap it goes un-noticed quite easily.

I also have the cz 858 gremlin many do. I can cure it by a rapid release of the trigger after every shot, if I hold the trigger a split too long after firing the striker follows the bolt forward and slightly dents the primer with no fire.
Rauch Tactical can update the bolt carrier.

I have the same problem and some suggest using a washer of some sort, do you know how to take out the trigger mech pins? I was also thinking of using a E clip so I wouldn't have to take the trigger pin out .Sloppy trigger movement side to side is the probably the problem.
