Powder coating an m14

How about hard chrome plating hehhehe
NRA did one up for an anniversary edition. Not my thing BUT it was one damn fine looking rifle
Mind you, you gotta like the look of Bling to go down that road. :D
I aggree with Sean, powder coating may not be the best choice for the reasons he mentions and becuase it builds up to much and may interfere with moving parts

Chrome is a little more "bling" than I was looking for, probably would look fantstic though. Anyone in BC do any kind of milspec parking? Anyone?

I have the tank, custom made in stainless. I need to fill her with solution and start perfecting my parkerizing skills on the pile of norc parts I've got laying around. Some time this year I hope to start parkerizing.
Not sure who does it in BC. I do know one local smith who does it but if you guys think I'm slow..... He took a year to parkerize ONE garand rear sight so I will not recommend him.
I'll ask around locally ;)

Anyone ever have thier m14 powder coated? How'd it turn out? Any fit issues after the fact?

Thanks

There is armacoat I think it's called, similar to dura coat I believe. Company is in alberta and they do Fantastic, durable coloured coatings on firearms.
When I have time I may look at having one of my own rigs sent to them for coating.

Seriously ? Powder is applied in the micron, like 1-1.5 which is 0.00003937 - 0.000059055 of an inch and that is to much of a build up ?

I agree it would interfere with moving parts thou in which case the action and tight tolerance areas would have to be taped off.

I have an lrb m14sa and a collection of GI and aftermarket parts. Some are new and some have some finish wear... just looking for something to coat all parts so the rifle looks uniform.

Parkerizing would be solution for a great traditional finish.

GunKote, Armacoat, Duracoat and any other similar coats would be pretty easy in lieu of powdercoating.

And for that "field" look....Krylon :p :D
