200-Euro opening bid, if I haven't forgotten all my German.

Norinco quality is getting better all the time. The days of the 2x6 M-14 stocks are long gone. I saw a new one in a shop and it was as good as my buddy's TRW.

.45 Luger had zero parts interchangeability with the other models. The entire gun had to be re-engineered for the .45: longer frame, longer receiver, longer toggle links, wider bolt et cetera, et cetera, ad infinitam, ad nauseam.
A straight .40S&W conversion can be done on existing machinery with NO major redesign. All you need is the machinery and a Government that thinks that guns are not, of necessity, truly hateful in the eyes of God. They aren't: they are only truly hateful in the eyes of tiny little people who want to be big people but also want someone else to do the dirty work for them: Socialists, same people as pick your pockets to help 'the people' and then deny the people the opportunity to help themselves.

I gotta news flash for you; I heard that the Chinese will be building more then a dozen new nuclear reactors in the comming years. One of the key stipulations is that the valves for coolent must NOT be made in China.

Even the Chinese don't trust their own quality when it really counts.
 
If it's European, it's likely far overpriced.

When the Euro came in, it was at par with the Deutschmark. At that time the DM looked like a quarter, earned for a quarter and spent for a quarter. It cost DM 3 at the Bahnhof in Koln for a single (small) cup of coffee, no refill.
The Euro now is supposed to be a buck and a half.

Thanks, but I'll stick with nasty old North American stuff... you know, junk like Leupold and so forth.

And I can't afford one of those nice Canadian scopes the folks at ELCAN make, so, in a situation such as this (which is where most of us find ourselves) what's wrong with Chinese? Answer: nothing, except for the fact that we could make them just as well except that OUR firearms industry is nearly dead.
 
Funny thing about nuclear reactors. There is only one steel mill in the world today that is equipped to build the actual containment vessels, and it is in Japan. It's also booked solid for the next couple of years because CHINA is building so many new reactors that nobody else can order a vessel!

It's called centralisation of manufacture. It is just SO efficient, you know.

That picture is a perfect example of norinco quality. Another good example is a norinco 1911 barrel bushing, go ahead pop yours out... I could do better with a 7" angle grinder. I know the Chinese can build good stuff... they just go 90% of the way and then just say ah screw it and finish up with a 16" double cut mill bastard file.
 
That's how they keep them cheap! Polishing and finishing are labour intensive and just cosmetics for them but the important parts all work fine I'm sure. I had a Norc 1911, it looked like hell but it worked when it needed to and I did have to worry about abusing/scratching it at all. I can't say that about my CZ though.
 
Take a look at the serial number.

If they get that thing up to the quality of the current 1911's then I would get one.
 
Heck, I'd order one right now if they made 'em with a 5-inch tube..... two if they made 'em in .40S&W as well. I have a rather minty 1916 DWM with about 99%+ original finish.... and I'm afraid to drop it!
