Sorry, after talking to the head RO Peter Hobot he said any week day would be fine but that the weekend is way to busy unless we rent the range. If you want zippy_the_wonder_chimp we could put you last on the shooter's list. That way you could make it.

I just might show up to this.
Although, I remember the last time I shot that thing with my SKS, it was pretty easy.
I'd go 5 for 5 most of the time. But I could've just been getting lucky that day.
We shall see. I'll probably be there. But no guarantees.

What if 6 club members got to the range at opening time on a Saturday or Sunday and took up 6 lanes with a start time of say 10:00AM?

sweet...

Thanx Satain. I could be there by 7:15/7:30 I guess, depending on traffic, etc.
I may not have to go last- we'll see who else shows up.

Is the PoCo range closed by twilight, or 10pm or something?

(I'll be using an iron sight SKS)

Sure it would probaly cost some $$$ to do this as Peter made sure to informed me that we would have to book the range to do this but if we do it on the week night Peter assued me it would be a poco sanction event and not cost us a thing & we could have up to 5 lanes to choose from. So in short, no point in pissing off everyone when we don't have too.

Your right, Maybe you should run this a little later on if there is going to be concerns with light ect this early in the season. If there is anything I can help with, do not hesitate to ask. You know me pissing off people is a art form but there again it is better to be pissed off than pissed on.....:)

BJS, if you will not make this your signature line, I will, with your permission so as not to piss you off.:D

Seriously, I cannot see the issue of us Gong Shooters taking up 6 lanes, on a weekend, for as long as we want. First of all, many of us are members. Second, the others will be paying day card holders. So what is the issue? Anybody, member or not, can come in first thing in the morning and stay shoot the whole day. Never heard of a time limit to shoot.

And yes, ZIPPY, we will shoot off sandbags. Of course, guys are welcome to shoot off-hand if so inclined.

K, I'll bring some High-Vis Paint for the gong to be used before we shoot and durring each cease fire. Also bjs7293 the range shouldn't be that dark @ 8 considering sun won't set untill roughly 8:12 so we should be good by then, because Twilight is @ 8:47. Also don't froget we have to be done before they close @ 8:30.

Sunset today was 7:32 pm.

By 6:30, it was hard to see to 200 meters.

IMO, we should do the shoot in May.

Say May 11th when the sunset will be 8:44 or May 13th when sunset will be 8:46.

Two suggestions:
1. We do it May 13th Thursday, so those who want to practice can do so during the day. We start the shoot at 5:30 pm.

Tuesdays, the range is closed to the public until 5 pm.

2. The order of battle will be chronologically arranged. Oldest shooters go first: With this sched plus Satain's HiViz paint, us older fellas will have no excuse for our low scores.

Sounds good to me but I am afraid I won't be able to comit to being there or even help running it. The month of May is madness for me. Don't plan on being home until the sunset's do to my job occupation of being a painter. Also if the sun set's @ 7:30 right now in a months time it should be good enough light by then no??? Also should we call it off if rain's or is over cast? As for the idea of Thursday for pratice be for shooting. I thought about it & well that's not really far for the people who have to work and can't pratice before they shoot. Not saying Monday you can go up there & pratice or any day for that matter. This way it's the same for everyone. But hey if I am the only one that feels like this then what does that mean really.
Please chime in because I will have to talk to the head R.O. and get him to change the date before they publish next months day schedule & poster's.
Also I was wondering if some people could bring up spotting scopes that we could use for juding?

well, fair or not i'm just going out to meet you guys and being an inexperienced shooter i don't expect much- mainly just to have some fun!

if i get 5 or 10 hits on the 200m gong i'll be ecstatic.

just got my range membership at Ridgedale last Tuesday and
found out their longest shot is about 185 yards or so... wah. :(
