SHOT Show Specials on FN

The soft nose 5.7x28 is approved for export from the US. The only reason we don\'t have available ammo is because nobody has bothered to import it.

Actually... the reason "we" don't have available ammo is that NRCAN has not approved any 5.7x28 ammo for import and sale for civilian end-users. In order to get an import permit (which is required for importation of more than 5,000 rounds of ammo) the ammunition being imported must be on NRCAN's list of approved ammunition.

It seems that FN Herstal did get approval for the SS197 rounds however, they specifically requested that the round be approved as a "LE/Military" end-user round only... we are working to get that changed.

Apparently the SS195LF round has never been submitted to NRCAN for approval so that process needed to be initiated. The process is quite involved and is not free.

We've been attacking all of this from several directions and it is making progress... that's really all I can say for now.

Wow I feel like I got screwed. paid 8k for 2 ps90s a couple months ago now they are nearly half price. I will be sure not be an early buyer again :(

I learned that lesson too with my 12" piston LMT . I almost got the last PS90 but u took both black ones so i gotta thank you for saving me some cash . But im sorry for you :(

I might be able to cheer you up . At least you re not the guy trying to sell his PS90 for 10K , cant remeber his name ?

After shooting a PS90 in the states 2 years ago, I can say first hand that they are the real deal. 2 grand for one is a steal.

Two questions for Questar:

How long will this sale be effective for?

Are you able to get the shorter 12" models, or are they blocked by US law?

I can't say how long these prices will be in effect... things change constantly. For all we know the US could stop approving our export permits on some of these models and then they won't be available at any price :(

We have optional barrels coming for both the FS2000 (longer barrel will allow registrationas non-restricted) and for the PS90 there are longer and shorter barrels coming. These are NOT factory FN barrels... they are aftermarket.

Right now that's all the details I can release... hope to have more detail soon.

I believe we just received a very small quantity of CMMG 10.5" PS90 Barrels with the FN muzzle brake... those are being setup on the website now and should be accessible by early this week. These were an old backorder we had placed earlier last year... it finally arrived.

Thanks for the info. I hope to have an order placed this week.

Hi Mark, do you have any updates if and when FN 5.7x28 ammo will be sold in Canada?

I don't have dates or time estimates... sorry.

It is being worked on... unfortunately it's a slow process... but we've been making steady progress.

The biggest stumbling block has been getting NRCAN approvals for the ammo... this just seems to take forever. People can import up to 5,000 rounds of ammo for personal use, without that ammo being on the NRCAN approved list... but for a business to import ammo (more than 5,000 rounds) they need to get an import permit from NRCAN and before NRCAN will issue the import permit they must review and approve the ammunition and put it on their approved list.

Right now the 5.7x28 ammo has never been "approved" for commercial import and sale so we've been going through that process... and it seems to take forever.

When we know more we'll post the info on our website but right now that's all I can tell you.
