I have wanted an AR for a long, long time, but the cost has always held me back. Well, that and the percieved PITA that comes with owning a restricted firearm (though I do own handguns... not really sure why I consider an AR more of a hassle
).
One of the MANY traits I have always thought was wicked about AR's, and black/green rifles in general, is that due to the nature of the design, and lack of an actual stock, they don't require any bedding. There is something about having to install pillars, and then bed a rifle, and the concept of a 'stock', that just seems so archaic, and outdated. Then you have to fart around with finding the proper torque setting on the action screws, and don't remove the action very often or the bedding job will lose it's fit....
To me the modular concept of an AR is just genius, and in my mind, what a rifle SHOULD be. All parts are generally standardized and avaliable from all kinds of different companies, swapping parts does not require a gunsmith, and if I understand correctly neither does a barrel change if you are knowledgeable, no bedding, no wood stocks to worry about expanding and contracting with climate change, no need to have your stock chopped to adjust LOP, etc, etc....
So anyways.... is this part of the reason, and line of thinking that you guys got into the black rifle game? I wish I could afford it lol Perhaps when the new tactical rimfires come out lol, or if Norinco comes out with some more AR copies.
