Sig 522

I can't even begin to guess what you are referring to...

More of "what" kind of magazines... be specific. We have literally thousands of magazines here of all different types. From your question I have no idea what type of magazines you're asking about... Black Dog AR-22/Black Dog 10-22/SIG mags/LAR15 mags/etc.

The Sig 522 Magazines. My Bad.

The Sig 522 Magazines. My Bad.

I think they're just regular Black Dog AR-22 mags... (which are apparently really good .22 mags, btw)

What I would like to know is where the Spike's Tactical Dedicated .22LR complete uppers went???? I combed through the website and all I found were the dedicated bolts, barrels, and a complete rifle that had a YHM tube or something on it.

Where did these go?

I would love just a simple spike's flattop .22 dedicated upper without any rails or crap for cheap AR training. Like the uppers you have on the complete rifles...

:agree:

Want the sig for non-restricted fun and hunting.

Yeah, but don't want a pricey rail or fake can on a .22 ;)
Funny that I can't find the simplest option.

Sorry for highjack, back to your regular programming...

Questar: a variant of what?

SIG 550/551 is a named Prohibited firearm as well as all Variants. Last year the RCMP Tables Section ruled that the SIG 556 was a variant of the 550/551 thus making all of the 556 rifles and even the 556 Pistol design "Prohibited Firearms".

The "issue" in this case would be whether the SIG 522 is a variant of the 556 and therefore a continuation of the decision that the 556 is itself a variant of the 550/551.

SIG themselves have stated that the 522 is a new design and only shares similar "feel" to the 556 and limited ability to share furniture with the 556. Parts are NOT interchangeable... operating system is obviously not the same.

The whole "variant" thing is BS without a proper definition of what constitutes a "variant" under the firearms legislation and such a definition does not exist... so the RCMP essentially make their own and leave it to the courts to decide what it should be.

Mark,

I hope you are prepared to take this to next level if they decide to rule it's a variant of the 55x series. I have alot of respect for you and the company you work for. Since you have managed to do what alot of other companies have failed at. If it for some reason it goes to the next level I will have donation ready for the legal fund. Let us hope the cfc rules for the logical choice and it doesn't come to that. I would like buy two of the rifles as soon as they are available.

Are people still fighting this stuff? LOL

I love leaving for months and coming back to the exact same things. It's simultaneously hilarious and sad...

Its f**king sad that there are #####es like you who are unwilling to fight for our rightts you should be ashamed of yourself we are ashamed that is for sure. I wan't belive that are tha homosexualuals who still apposse the this.
No need to insult homosexuals by comparing Soli to one. Homosexuals have actually been very effective in advocating for equal rights and standing up to the government.

From wiki:
Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches

From Me:
Mr Smitty's Law (also known as Smitty's Rule of Homosexual's Analogies or Smitty's Law of Same ### Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Desette in 2010 which has become an inside joke. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison or insulting involving 'Homos' approaches

In other words stop flaming people and get back on topic and
If it is that sad to you, perhaps you should stay away a bit longer than just a few months

I agree :)

Back to the Sig 522 any news? and as well Questar are you going to the awesome Calgary Gun Show?

I fight the battles that can be "won" and don't waste time, energy or money fighting battles that can't be won. The government has a never ending supply of money (they use our money to fight us and they NEVER run out)... they have an endless amount of time (in fact delaying the outcome can often be a win for them since with delays and appeals they can in theory drag a final decision out for many years and that only helps them not us... and in the end even if they lose (and we win) after all the time and money is spent, we don't get back our costs fighting it and all the government needs to do is change the law and the whole "win" is down the tube.

So you tell me... how can I justify "fighting" their decision? I'm in business to make money... it's how I feed my family and pay my bills. I keep hoping that our "Canadian Gun Owner Associations" like CSSA will take-on and win some of these battles but so far their track record has been rather disappointing. As recent as this morning I received an email pointing out CSSA's inability to influence a positive outcome on the T97 ruling.

Everyone keeps blaming the RCMP for these "decisions" but I personally blame the politicians and the voters... RCMP are doing their job (in my opinion)... In fairness I quite often agree with them (given the wording of the legislation) and that's all they have to work with. If you want them to change their classification rulings then get the politicians to clarify the grey areas of the law to eliminate such disputes. Either the courts or the politicians need to create a clear-cut definition of how the original legislation is supposed to determine what is and what is NOT a "variant"... then it will be clear for everyone (RCMP included) and classification of firearms will be easier, faster and less open to interpretation.

That is the battle that needs to be fought. It's being fought already in the courts but being appealed and who knows how long that will take or how wide spread it can be applied (if it is successful for the applicant as the lower court stated). A faster and more all encompassing solution would be to have the government introduce some form of legislation to clarity what the term "Variant" is supposed to mean in respect to the firearms legislation.

My opinion :)

We never had the Spike's .22lr complete uppers listed on our website but they are being put on the site now and should be activated in the next day or two.

Great post Questar, I don't have much hope that common sense will be used in the classification of this rifle.

I hope they realize that this is just a semi-auto .22 LR and classify it accordingly.

If its non-restricted I'll buy one tomorrow. If its restricted.... forget it. I would be using this rifle for fun out on the farm.

I'd still buy this if it was restricted. Reading this thread makes me feel like ####. What the hell are we doing with a bunch of garbage laws that nebulously describe a variant to be something with non-interchangeable parts in a semi-only config that presumably has no existing full-auto variant, in a menacing caliber like 22lr.

This is a load of horse ####, I want to know more about this Henderson case. I wouldn't hold out for political change guys, we don't even get to vote on individual issues the way the Americans do, we prop up some clowns for 4 years and they do whatever they want and are completely unaccountable to their constituents, their campaign promises or the public. The legislation affecting this rifle and this thread is a damn joke, and we can't do anything about it. That doesn't feel good. sigh.

Hats off Questar for trying to play the game.
