Best Long Range Scope for a Lapua 338

Nightforce or US Optics. Have them both. Dollar for dollar I think Nightforce are one of the best choices out there for quality gear.

I have shot my 338 LM with a Schmidt and Bender PMII with very good results to 1,000m.

I would suggest that optics quality is more important than total magnification at long to very long ranges.

I just put on the Zeiss Hensoldt 6-24x56 30mm Tube - Illuminated Mil Dot Reticle. Very happy with the scope, and got to say that very happy I din't sell the dame thing...

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

NightForce ++

At my range, I watched people shoot out to a mile. At that range the only people who seen hits in the snow, were one's with NightForce NXS 5.5-22X56, or equivalent NightForce 56 MM objectives.
61 people shot at my range and 30 had NightForce.
My 2 cents.

For the guys using the 8-32 what are you using for bases and where is your zero distance? I was thinking of trying a sightron but since they seems to be a pita to get I am probably gonna buy another nightforce for my 338. I have a 12-42 on my 308 that I love and works perfect for that rifle. But with the 338 I need more elevation then what the 42x can deliver. The 32x has more elevation but I am not sure if I want the elevation of the 22x or the extra power of the 32. What I want is the 42x with 120moa. I love being able to see my hits as fast as my spotter can at distance. I can do that with my other nightforce.

The only 12x42 that has that sort of elevation is the US Optics SN9 but it has its own bunch of issues.
8x32s from NF have 65moa in them and are plenty for true long range work when set on a plus 40 moa rail plus they can be zeroed at 100yards

Lowest to highest Leupold Mark 4, then NF then European, NF 5.5-22x56 on the TRG 42, married for life.

I have 2x338 Edge built on Savage actions. On the 112 BVSS I have a NF NXS 3.5-15x50mm ZS, MLR, FFP. On the Savage target action, I have a S&B 5-25x56mm P4F. Both are mounted on Near bases and rings. Both are great scopes, but, needless to say, I prefer the PMII.

When I bought the scopes, the price difference was about $500 in Canada whereas it was about $1,000 in the USA!

I was thinking of getting the NF 8-32 but would like to have the zero stop turrets so perhaps the NF 5.5-22x56. Does anyone here have the zero stops on their NF scopes? what do you think of that option?

I have zero stops on several 5.5x22s and have been bugging NF to offer the 8x32s with zero stop option for several years.
I LOVE it, it saves me from wondering where zero is after I forget to come back to zero at the end of a day.
Memory is a wonderful thing to have, I wish I had some , but until I find some, zero stops solve the problem:)
