We Saw Our First BlackBear of the Year Saturday March 27/10

As we were coming back into the Fraser Valley yesterday between Hope and Aggassiz we spotted our first black bear of the year down near the river.

Never seen one this early before...

We had spent the day up on the Coquihalla and hadn't seen any sign so I was figuring they were still holed up.

Nice surprise now I'm planning on going out bear hunting a bit earlier this year.

good to hear. i'm hoping to get out this year and see if i can't shoot my first big game animal. i'm kinda hoping it'll be a bear.

They have been out for a few weeks now here on the coast.
Last week I saw 4 from the helicopter- one had a sleek coat and was looking chubby already!!

Boy you are right that is early. Just got back from Prince George on the week-end. never saw any.

There's one crawling around on the hill behind work here today. It's not surprising as the grass is growing and it's been warm enough. I'll be a few are taken this weekend.
