And we thank you for that...Actually, you played into my hand quite well.... I was hoping to draw out someone who had a collection of Colt SAA's with the photos to show....

If you read up on these cowboy guns much credo is put into the Colt'ish 4 clicks from hammer down to lockup prior to shooting. The Ruger options do not have this. They are superb guns but they are far from authentic to the original Colt pattern. [I said:The 3 screw ruger blackhawk model was stopped in 1973.
They have the 4 clicks from hammer down to lockup prior to shooting.
I own 2 of them.
If you are a SA fan you should spend some time with one.
Not expensive, look here...[/I]

I would like to add there is something special to a SA fan and owning a gun that does the 4 clicks.
Through the ear muffs you can hear the 4 clicks.
Through your hand you can feel the 4 clicks.
I did not own handguns for a long time.
Then in a short time frame bought 3. A 9mm , a DA and SA revolver.
Not surprising the 9mm got shot the most, at first.
Then the DA revolvers as I went with a GP 100 then 686 then 27 - 2 etc... Easy to shoot well with the houge rubber finger grove grips.
But now I go to SA's![]()
You guys are killing me with your Colt SAAs. I am selling my Stag AR to fund a SA and may have settled on a Ruger SB, blued, 44mag, 4 5/8 barrel, unfuted. NOW, however I am beginning to question this decision and and once again wandering over to the Colt model P. They are 3x as much without adjustable sights! My o my...decisions, decisions...
Beautiful guns guys, don't you think that a Bisley Vaquero 4 3/4" in .45 Colt's would be the bee's knees??
Great thread and plenty of information, thanks!
I have not owned an SAA and would like to purchase one. No denying the good points of Ruger but somehow I am interested in a Colt.
What Colt SAA would you guys recommend to be looking for that do not break the bank?
Depends on your definition of "breaking the bank". Virtually any Colt SAA in any kind of condition at all will cost significantly more than any of the clones or other "improved" SAA's.
