Single action revolvers. Your advice?

I picked up a New Vaquero as my first. I love the case hardened look. Bought in .38/.357 as .45 LC ammo costs too much for me. It sounds like you are in the position I was in when I was looking, not really knowing, but wanting. I can tell you I made the right choice, as now, of all my guns, my SA is my favorite to shoot. And that's choosen from multitudes of autos and DA revolvers... I even prefer it over my 1911, which is a close second. :)

Now, can someone tell me where to get a good belt/holster combo?? :)

Depending on your budget, the STI Texican might be worth looking at. Unlike Colts, they don't have oversized cylinder throats.

If you're looking for something less expensive, the Beretta Stampedes look pretty sharp.

Sorry, should have defined it more precisely knowing that early Colt SAA revolvers are very expensive and would break my bank.

So let's consider newly manufactured Colt SAAs and also comparable clones.

There are many makes of Colt model P clones. You could buy 3 - 4 clones for the cost of one Colt. Also, do you want a SA with adjustable sights or fixed sights? I am going to but a SA with adjustable sights so there is no need to use " kentuckey windage ". Thanks for the push NAA, I knew the Ruger was a better fit for me.

I guess a true SAA revolver would not have adjustable sights as far as I suspect, so I would tend to lean that way.

Can you give some pricing examples of some clones vs Colts?

You'll likely pay ~ $1,500 or better for a latest version real Colt SAA.

You can get a Pietta for ~ $500 all in.

Ruger makes a very nice SAA in the Vaquero but it's ~ $750'ish.

The New Vaquero in .38./357 is most appealing at the present (would prefer .45 LC) and I own Rugers so I know that they make solid guns , and I will read up on the Pietta. Thanks!

Actually I got my new Pietta recently for about $430 all in. Mind you I was content with the basic one with blued barrel and cylinder and colour case hardening.
