How much time do you spend cleaning your 858 ?

I'm in no way trying to make this sound or be competitive.

I am just curious to see how much time people spend cleaning their CZ 858.

For me a quick clean takes around a half an hour max.
A thorough clean for me takes around 2 hours ? ( I dont know if that sounds crazy or if that's whats expected... maybe not enough? )
 
Same here, but I dont clean it thoroughly every time. Usually just hot water and couple patches to dry it. One patch of Hoppes, Couple dry ones. Pipe cleaner with some hoppes down the gas tube, then light oiled pipe cleaner for the gas tube and lightly oiled patch down the barrel and wipe down with oily rag. 15 minutes for a quick clean every time, and a good half hour clean once a month.
 
Takes me about 1-2 hours but it always depends on which movie I'm watching. It would take me less time but I just like cleaning it while having a good Hollywood flick on TV.

Wish I had a tv in the garage, well tuning in to the radio is not bad while cleaning I guess, that and a couple of beers ( or whatever moonshine is laying around hehe )....

I remember being drunk once and trying to clean and do a "good" job. The next day I realized it wasn't a bad job after all.

*nobody give me that crap about handling a firearm while intoxicated lecture ! * ( there was no ammunition around , was all locked up ) :cool:

:eek: The shells start to stick in the chamber if I don't clean it at least every 200 rounds. My buddy just got a shell stuck in his sks yesterday and can't get it out, tried a metal rod and hammer and still never budged.

Take the SKS out of the stock and try heating the chamber area with a heat gun. Use ONLY a heat gun.

After you get the case out wrap some fine steel wool around an old bore brush, and stick it on a rod in a drill. Soak the fine steel wool in oil and spin it in the chamber on high speed for around 20 seconds or so. Try not to stick it in to far. After that take the steel wool off and replace it with some patches to clean out the chamber. You should also do this with your 858 if the cases are sticking after only 200 rds. A rough chamber gets dirty and causes sticking a lot quicker. YMMV.

I will relay that on to him.

I use the supplied brush to clean the chamber and it does a decent job. I will try the drill method.
 
The fine steel wool soaked in oil just polishes the chamber up a bit. It won't harm it unless you get really horny with it. Be sure to use fine steel wool or even better extra fine.
