Shot some new 110gr Barnes TTSX this evening in my 700 Sendero SF

65 grs Rl17 showed some stiffer bolt lift and a light ejector mark in the casehead. I think I will retest for groups with 63.5 grs RL17 and see how that goes.

Now I have to develop a 1000 yard load for the local shoot in 2 months. My first time trying 1000!

The articles in www.6mmbr.com indicate 7mm SAUM to be one of the most accurate anywhere and have really tweaked my curiosity as I am looking to buy another rifle.
With the rebated rim how do you find the cartidges feed and how about finding brass sources?

Nice rig, will you have enough elevation without 20 MOA bases for the scope rings? AND how long is the barrel on that baby?

I always though the 7MM SAUM would make a great long range caliber, what bullets are you planning on shooting that far?

Reading the wind and accurately compensating is where shooters are made at 1000.

The 7mm SAUM using bullets in the 140-168gr range, will have to be set up 30 inches high at 100m to be on the board at 1000m. Once again you may have to go to the burris rings with the inserts, +.020 at the rear and -.020 at the front. What bullet were you planning to use?

That should make a nasty deer load, and would work well on most anything.

I've been wanting to try a 7 saum at distance. Should work very, very well w/ 162 amax, 168 Berger VLd, 180 VLD, or 175 SMKs.

I have a full custom7mm saum smithed by Joe Kroetsch in St.Agatha,ont. RL25,federal 215 match primers with berger 180vld, seirra 175mk and hornady 162 Amax are all incredibly accurate.My best load has an ES of 4 with SD 2( over 6 shots).I know some guys having success with RL17 behind 162 amax.Mine likes the bergers and seirras 0.002 off the lands while it like the amax a full 0.020 off the lands.
I haven't tried RL17 yet as RL25 has just been so good.


What kind of stock is that on your Sendero?

I got 62moa of elevation from my current 100 yard zero. I'll be shooting 162 Amax I think, unless they just won't group. 26" barrel on this Sendero

What kind of stock is that on your Sendero?

I used RL25 with 160gr Accubonds last summer for my hunting load, only took it hunting twice and shot a coyote. 2980 fps with 66grs.

It's a Bell & Carlson 'vertical grip'. Kinda clunky, but good for bench shooting. I won't hunt much with the rifle now, maybe the odd deer hunt from a blind overlooking a big field.

I find the Saum to be the optimum 7mm esp. from a reloading/accuracy perspective, I would be concerned about throat erosion when target shooting, but the case is as good as it gets. I just got some new R-P brass from No-sale sports in S'toon.

That's why I have 2 additional barrels already chambered and threaded.I simply have to take off the old and turn the new one on.

Nice to see others are enjoying the 7saum as much as me, it is a well designed cartridge.
Mine is a 28" gaillard on a weatherby vanguard action, likes 180 gr bergers and h4831 as well as 120gr vmax and rl 19. Going to vaporize some gophers this weekend.

1000 Meter BULLET

I have used the 7mm RM @1000M and could never get the sierra 168gr to shoot well. Sooo tried the nosler bal tip 140gr an 150gr, both shot better in my rifle. Long range factory ammo uses the 150 bal tip.

I picked up a set of dies at a fire sale price at a gun show, so now I have to build a rifle in this caliber. I think it is very under rated, the case capacity would seem to be just about perfect for a well balanced LR hunting rifle. - dan

some of you may remember I had the same model years back (2003-05) and sold it on CGN. Found one NIB and scooped it in a heartbeat

looking forward to playing with this one, wicked cartridge. First group went 1" @ 100m for 3 shots with 110gr TTsX @ 3500 f/s

Anyone have a handle on where to get some brass? Its seems to be as rare as hens teeth.
Also I tried reloder17 with poor results, execessive pressure and low velocities(139g sst)
