Why aren't Thompson Center Contender Rifles more popular in Canada?

what is the shortest barrel that can be put on a contender and still be classed as a rifle?

If I understand the laws correctly for hunting a barrel needs to be min 12" or longer and the overall length of the rifle needs to be 26.5"...

My 14" Contender carbine barrel in 45 Colt with an appr 14" length of pull butt stock = 29" overall length.

I can shorten it 2.4" and still be legal length...

I don't think you are allowed to cut barrels to under 18.5". Factory ones under that length are fine though.

Personally, losing 8" of barrel length is like a doubling in perceived volume and ten times the sound pressure levels on your ear drums (decibels are logarithmic). IMO the 23" barrels are handy enough, and I'd rather have more velocity and less noise.
