THE great Marstar update thread.

Facebook would be great and would allow you to reach a whole new client base of people who don't go to CGN or go searching for guns on the internet but have facebook. I know I would send invites to gun owning friends who don't use CGN(a decent number).

DOC ZOID:
I don't need time on the range, you get tired of it after a while....
This would be a project my grand daughter will work on

John

Sounds like a fun project for her and I don't think there is anyone on these forums that wouldn't be delighted to see the videos. Even if you were trying to make money off of us - which you may well soon be doing from DocZoid Sr. for a project that is similar in its goals. To be continued by him on the phone later today, hopefully.

PERHAPS I was not clear, the videos we are looking at putting together would be free, no purchase required....

We thought perhaps those who cannot own certain firearms might be interested in seeing how they function etc, etc....

Like something on the 1910 water cooled Maxim, the .303 Vickers, Yugo M-84, etc, etc....

Just an idea
John

Excellent Idea !
Especially with old wood, steel, brass, weapons.

John you want to really get out there?

Facebook is the way to go, and use it back to back with a tweet. Many US dealers are catching this on, and as you know this is viral marketing as its finest.

Make sure you make a Youtube page also, that will get you a new loyal following pretty fast.

But perhaps making your website navigate better should be priority, it looks great in 1997, but today it looks extremely archaic and annoying to navigate.

Facebook, Twitter, hell I won't even text or answer a text, if someone can't simply call on the phone I don't want to talk to them.

John, keep your website updated.

You guys that think Tweeter & Facebook are the cool,...............just wait till you start growing facial hair and discover girls. :D:D

Yes, improve navigation of existing web site first. Just send updates to email addresses or as text messages to phone numbers, but it doesn't have to be twitter.

If you could promise me to shoot full autos all day and take video of it. Heck I would walk from alberta! haha

Facebook and Twitter working together are a viable marketing channel, all the back end work that was needed to design a maintain a current news portal are already done and their distribution system is already in place..don't listen to Luddites or people who are behind the curve through life...if it didn't work then companies wouldn't be adopting it

sure but how many shooting sports enthusiasts are facebook/twitter users? I am too busy with my wife and kids (third on the way) and I sure have no time for this. I never even went to Facebook. CGN already takes enough of my time and I am very happy with the forum.

I'm on Facebook... so are my wife, my daughter, both of my companies, and according to the CGN group on Facebook, 776 other CGNers.

Twitter is for losers though :D

Twitter gets a bad rap because of all of the BS celebrity #### and the obvious appeal to mindless teenage girls that tweet every time they change outfits. But it will come into its own once the novelty wears off. When used appropriately, it is actually a very effective and efficient business communication tool.

The website is easy enough to browse through now, but putting it on a modern CMS like Drupal, Joomla or Wordpress with a feature-rich Shopping Cart plus blog/news feed would likely kill a whole flock of birds with one big stone. The usability of these tools has got a ton better in the last 3 years, making updates take less time. You could also plug the eCommerce bit into your inventory system to really get the automation mojo flowing.

With RSS from your website's blog or newsfeed (which is where you want people to end up anyways), you could feed updates out to twitter or facebook automatically.

Youtube videos for products would be sweet because you can only tell so much from pictures. A short video with someone handling and operating the item is a whole other story. Doesn't need to be Hollywood quality, cheap and cheerful is good enough.

I'd want to see a video series called

Johnone - The Cage Match Series.

John versus any and all CGN who pick his butt. We'd have subtitles written in ALL CAPS.

After a beat down we'd read the punch line:

LISTEN, FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME - STAY DOWN!
