How to clean cleaning tools?

Soap and water in a bucket for bore snakes.

Brushes I used non clor brake cleaner. Most times I just throw the brush away after a single use. I use phos bronze brushes.

Running water for a few seconds while rubbing between fingers for my oh-so-precious 30cal nylon brush (the only one I ever found).

Followed by several days/weeks/months of drying depending on when I'll next fire my beloved SKS or Nagants. All of my bronze brushes have been re-assigned into patch pushing/jag duty and see no "cleaning" of any sort.

Kind of ironic considering that I haven't had a cleaning rod in almost a year since I broke the tip off my last one while trying to hit the "shut up" button on my well-out-of-reach "food detector" AKA smoke detector.

Bore snakes have never been "cleaned" either except maybe once under running water from the faucet then left to dry for the aforementioned days/weeks/months.

Brushes sit until used the next time. And when they don't rub well enough get tossed. The rest of the stuff just gets a wipe off to remove any grunge.

I hadn't thought about the worn down brushes being useful for jags. THANKS !
