I knew I'd seen this rifle before!!!!

FN FS2000 inspired by 2000 leagues under the sea. Are the scoped version known as the Nautilus?

All joking aside. Cool rifle.

We've got more non-restricted in the works. Flattop and optic models. I'll be contacting those on the waitlist when they're ready to purchase. Sorry I don't have a precise ETA at this point.

They are 5.56 nato chambers, chromoly. The original barrel does not ship with the gun but we may be able to work something out if you really want it.

Our website has a link to the waitlist submission form.

Herron arms quote me $250 for the barrel blank but couldn't give me a accurate one for the complete barrel on a restricted PE90 Carbine de-restrict project. Has any of the Ps90 guys got a more accurate quote?

Not sure if I missed it in the thread, but any idea what the accuracy on these with the barrel change is?
2MOA, 3MOA, good for 5" groups at 300m?

In a word...outstanding. Received it this morning and here's what I just sent to K.O. after sending a few rounds downrange:

Ran a patch through the bore, popped off the scope and installed my Acog and went to sight it in. First three rounds of PMC 55gr were about 3” apart at 25yd, and I thought “so much for this barrel shooting well”. Dialed the scope in a bit, moved the box to 50yd and the next three rounds were also 3” apart. Dialed her in a bit more, went to 100 yards, loaded some S&B 55gr and… you guessed it… a 3” group. Tried ten rounds of Ruag 62gr and they went into 2 & 2.5 inches, and thought “ok, this barrel really does shoot!”

Needless to say I’m very impressed (understatement), as I’m not a great shot, this isn’t exactly premium ammo, the Acog is too low and too far away for a decent sight picture or cheek weld, the magnification is a bit lacking, it’s winter and the snow is deep.

More thoughts and pics to follow soon.

Here are a few (crappy iPhone) pictures.

Nice example of overexposure:

First group at 100 yards. I was pleasantly surprised.

Tried some heavier Ruag 63gr. Even better:

Couldn't see the smaller target very well, but not too bad I don't think:

Some random thoughts...

With the lower rail on the Standard model, the Acog needs to be 1/2 inch higher to be very good, and back the same amount to be perfect (for me at least). Tried a .75" Tavor rail I had here and it's too high as I suspected. Right now the Acog is uncomfortable to use, and I can't get close enough at all. Either need to get a riser ASAP, or scope it with some tall rings.

The included scope is decent enough, but too low of magnification for me. Nice reticle and glass, but unless little things get bigger when I look through it, it isn't much use. Maybe someday they'll have a 4x or 6x available to fit under the shroud.

I have no idea how to sling this thing. Kinda got a HK sling wrapped around it and it works as a carry sling, but I doubt I did it correctly or that it works as intended.

The first time the ejection door popped open and burped three empties out I was startled a bit. Really cool system though, and spent brass falls in an easily collected pile to the right front. Makes my Bubca brass catcher useless for this rifle, but now a pail works just as well.

As a lefty I'm struggling with the cocking handle. The Tavor's swappable handle was better in this regard. Safety and mag release are nice for southpaws of course.

Do NOT insert a ten round LAR mag by itself. It will disappear into the magwell, and as they don't drop free it might be interesting to remove it. With the mag couplers a pair works perfectly however, and a tactipul type floorplate might work (have a couple on order).

Received some CProducts Tactipul Floorplates from Questar, and they work very well with the LAR mags. Nice option from the coupler if you're concerned about dirt, bent feed lips etc. with the downwards pointing mag. Also gives it that sleek European aerodynamic look.

The trigger is...interesting. Long, heavy and kinda mushy, but the break itself seems quite nice. There doesn't appear that anything can be done except get used to it, so we'll see if I'm up to that challenge.

From what I can remember the FS2000 seems more neutrally balanced than the Tavor. The FS has the balance point near the grip, whereas the Tavor was further rearward... between the grip and mag if I recall correctly.

Takedown is pretty simple...push a plastic plug through and the barrel, rail and "upper" come away from the rest. Sliding the buttpad off allows the whole hammer group to slide out as an assembly. There's also a fair sized compartment (5"x2"x1.25")in the butt below the hammer group that could hold quite a number of items, but be sure to keep them in a container or case of some sort, as small bits could get into the hammer/sear components if loose in there, with the usual undesirable results.

Funny, if this was a Mini 14 there would be all kinds of comments about minute of barn accuracy. Now just because someone spends several thousand dollars on the latest Krunchenticker, it is "very impressive". Just saying I don't get it. I want one. But I don't get it.

was it just me or did i read that it had a 1:7 twist barrell ? shouldnt there be some heavier grain pills being pushed through it to get some better groups..

apart from that, i really like the rifle, looks slick with the acog

would look extra sweet with a big shiny suppressoooooooh no he didnt :D

To be more specific I was referring to the Kodiak Outpost order, anybody else got some from him?
Oops!

How surprised? A little, or a lot? I could arrange for you to experience either one. :)
I think a Mini 14 that could consistently do 2 MOA five-shot groups with a three power scope would be very surprising.
