S&W 500 vs 50 Cal. Sniper

Is this even a serious question??? Price being no object, I'd buy a .50 BMG any day of the week and twice on a Sunday before buying a .500 S&W handgun.

Price being what it is, however, I don't own either - and have no plans for a .500 S&W Handgun.

does the OP realize that the .50BMG and the .500 s&w are two different cartridges and calibres

I would take the 50bmg obviously, as it is usually found in a $6-15000 rifle

This is like asking if you want to buy a plane or a boat... 2 really different things.

Put the 2 in front of me and tell me to take one for free? .50 cal no question.

And this from a S&W fan boy! :D

Of the two, I could at least find a range to shoot .500 S&W and it is cheaper to reload. It would have to be the John Ross 5" half lug version.

Realistically, given the money, I would rather just get another used S&W Model 29 or 629 with a half lug barrel, shorten the barrel to 5", and get an action job. I would then spend any remaining funds on components. A 240 grain bullet at around 1250 fps is enough to scratch my magnum revolver itch.

i would buy a h&r 500S&w and stick a good scope on it. then i have a "50cal sniper gun..." thats good for 200 yards. lol

... Which model of mortar sight would you put on it to achieve sufficient arc in your trajectory? :p :D

(Actually, it's probably only about 12-16" of drop if I haven't missed my guess... but still, screw you... :D :D :D )
