Finished my custom 10/22 build last year and though its a tack driver I needed a good bolt so bought this off Clay at Propher River.
The gun is a 16" bbl CZ 452 American and the wood is actually very nice, camera shot does not do it justice. Gun feels great, cycles quite smooth for being new.
Ive heard great things about 16" bbls and .22LRs both for velocity and accuarcy so I will test it out and give a range report when we get a calm day.
Missed the delivery this a.m(on this gun) which sucked cause I went out near Hodgeville SK and killed well over 150 gophers....all I can say is we have an infestation of the buggers down south.

Didn't care for rifle barrels shorter than 19 inches, until now. Somehow my Style's 22 incher or even the Varmint's 19 looks way too long. That stock is a beauty, BTW.

A 16 incher will probably not have any muzzle velocity penalties for standard or high velocity ammo but only chrono readings will verify this. Accuracy for a scoped 16 incher should even be better due to shorter bullet bore time, so less chance for recoil or shooter influenced barrel movement. The shorter barrel means less whip, as well, so that skinny barrel should be fine resulting in an accurate, light, quick handling rifle.

This is not looking good for the budget or husband/wife relations.:D

EDIT: Found this old thread in another forum. When comparing muzzle velocity of a 16 inch barrel to a longer or shorter one, the only way the test will be close to conclusive and convincing is that if the same barrel were used throughout the test. So in this old thread, somebody started with a 28 inch barrel and cut it in 2 inch increments to 14 inches. Results showed highest velocity of 1157 fps at 16 inches with Standard Velocity Remington. At 18 and 14 inches, velocity was 1149 fps.

Yes I did some reading and its seems that 16" is a good length. Clay at Prophet River said these 16"s produce some great groups. Looking forward to shooting it...to bad Im stuck at work for the next 4 days.

So, how does it shoot? So far Im a little dissapointed in my american. .6 to 1.1 @ ~60 yards off a bipod. Average is about .85. I think the crappy 4x BSA scope might be a contributing factor.

The good news is that it shoots the 3 types of ammo the the same POI.
 
The CZ's are usually(almost always) good to excellent shooters. The 16" ones seem yo be above average for some reason. Perhaps the shorter barrel has better harmonics; just speculation on my part but we've had very good reports on the dozens we've sold.

I suggest loosing the bi-pod and try shooting off bags if possible. Pretty sure you'll see those groups shrink. Triggers arent great on the CZ'z either with some work.
