VZ 58 Scout Scope Mount

These are a quality mount. They are made by ScoutScopes. I have one for my SKS. The only draw back is you are limited to scope option due to the need for a long eye relief scope.

I had it on my CZ for the time I owned one. Awesome mount! Well worth it and I have posted pics and the mods i did to allow you to clean the gas tube without taking it off. Pretty easy to do and you never have to worry about zero. I ended up lock tighting mine on and I never moved it once it was installed.

You are basically just removing material from in between the mounts on the handguard to allow you to pull the handguard back enough to clear the front tangs that hold it in on the gasblock.

You are cutting away the metal that the handguard fits under and a small chunk of the plastic/wood itself. Also you have to widen the gap just a little bit. Testing and grinding a little at a time to make sure you dont make it too loose.

Then you can just round off the tangs on the handguard a little bit and shorten them slightly to make it all work very easily.

All it takes is a dremel with a couple cut off wheels and a couple grinding bits and about an hour to get it done. I know I was happy with it, and it made cleaing easier as normally you have to take the mount apart to remove the handguard. The mount is 2 pieces and is easy to take down but getting zero every time is questionable.

Thank you very much for the review and pics.

No problem. I have posted it before and got PMs from a couple satisfied users who did the mod. I had no complaints except having to clean the thing after every trip. Southern ontario humidity and corrosive ammo were too scary a proposition and I wanted something to take camping and plinking in the bush. I ended up getting a reloading setup and a marlin 336 and love it. I have plans for one of the chrome lined ones if we ever see them in non restricted though.

I have one of these mounts and am very satisfied with it. I wish that I'd seen or thought of that method of modifying the forearm earlier, but my solution to the problem of gun cleaning and sight removal was to cut off the portion of the mount that projects forward over the handguard. The short rail that remains allows for use of a small red-dot sight like a FastFire or an Aimpoint Micro, which don't need to be removed to slip the handguard off for cleaning. Works for me.
