just like the title says i have always wanted one but people always warn me to go with a 16 or a 20 if u want reliability so i always got scared off what are the problems with getting a ar-15 in 11.5 to 7.5 inchs

I have a 11.5" that can shoot 7" at 300 yards if I'm lucky and it runs regardless:D The only time it malfunctioned is when I tried feeding it a mag full of gravel(crazy comp where we were under barb wire etc). Never had a issue with reliability and this is with just a straight flash suppressor. Dont be worried just get one that is put together right. I am switching to a 16" Hbar upper just because I want to do some precision shooting.

With a reddot I can get some decent sub 3 inch groups at 50m
with my factory built RRA 7.5" LAR-15 Pistol in .223

it's a light fast-to-target AR and I never have any reliability issues with it. I don't get the 'Loud' complaint people have. Loud is relative. No louder that a 12 guage :).

Get one with a proper buttstock. Using just a buffer tube is a bit of a joke.

As far as ballistics go, paper doesn't care about fragmentation.
And as far as economy goes with relation to 9mm. You can't convert 9mm to shoot
.22lr.

Get the .223 shorty of you want.

What is the overall length of your AR? I was thinking of picking one up from Questar.

RedDuk, they will do better than that for accuracy. I have the same gun and have got groups half that size at twice the distance with an EOtech. It runs flawlessly as well. Loud? Yup! You do shoot with ear protection, right?;)

i have no problem with reliability at the range - but 7.5" is super dirty due to the massive amount of unburnt powder.

Fun gun, I wish the 7.5" barrel is available again.

ha! I suck!!!

Honestly, I shoot this with irons typically at 50m and less.
I'm happy with the accuracy as it is.

No doubt this gun can shoot 1.5" groups at 100 but like I said, I'm a hack :p

Maybe my LAR-15 is a dud? With ears on I find it neither obnoxiously loud nor a flame thrower as some suggest. (I probably don't notice because of my heinous flinch  - just kidding)

There's a bit of parallax in my pics so I included close-ish measurements.

Yep Questar.

I bought mine with the $89 6 position stock and not just the pistol buffer.
However it ended up I didn't care for the cheaper stock and swapped it out for the CTR.

Love it now... Notice I've given up on iron sights for these shorty carbines. My eyes can't focus sharply on the fronts at any LOP.
My accuracy may go up a degree as a result. ;)
