Well, I did it, Thursday, bought another laminated refurb from LeB. I would have preferred a 1952 but there was vno choice in the lams. Price, with tax $251.99.

Just morning, I've taken it down and am impressed. It shows no internal wear what so ever, no signs of having been fired. Frankenpinned of course:( but...

The stock seems much better inletted then my 1951. I checked the side walls in the 1953, where the two forward recoil points contact the wood. Much better than the 1951. I will not consider bedding it until Ive done some firing.

It was very clean. some oil and that's all. Clean up was a snap.

This rifle I will leave unaltered so that I can use it milsurp shoots.

As for the barrel, I ran my snake down it and the chrome bore looks very good.

So, all in all, I am very pleased with it.

The $189 rifles they have are all non laminated. It is possible that I could have had a 1952 from that batch. Maybe even in better overall shape than my 1953. I'll never know.

Thats actually a pretty good price compared to whats out west lately.

That frankinpinned mag really bugs me. Poor workmanship, a bastard to clean, and they don't take the rounds evenly. The last one I got had to be modified, it would take 6 off the stripper clip, but only seat 5 in the mag... always had a loose one sitting on top with no where to go.
