I currently have a CQB and a Sniper model with a Nightforce 5.5-22x50 (Dianne loves this rifle way too much and expects me to keep loading the mags for her when we are out gopher shooting!). I had a Classic Green with open sights but sold it recently to part pay for a PGW Coyote. We have sold about 60 of these over the years and I consider the Sniper on the "never sell" list. Phil.

It's on my list of "to gets" in the next year or so, so I'm starting to research them. Whats the difference between the Sniper and the Black/Classic?

Sniper is essentially unobtanium. There are ~11 in Canada and they are no longer in production. There is one on the EE right now for like $11k(ish).

SG 550 Sniper

Another member of the SG 550 family is the SG 550 Sniper variant designed specifically for Swiss security forces. This accurized rifle has a refined two-stage trigger (the pull force was reduced from 35 N (7.9 lbf) to 15 N (3.4 lbf), a heavy, hammer-forged 650 mm (25.6 in) long barrel with a 254 mm (1:10 in) rifling twist rate (it has no flash hider) and is used exclusively with telescopic sights. The new folding stock has an adjustable cheek piece and a spacer system on the butt, the ergonomic pistol grip's angle of inclination can be regulated and the bipod features a height and cant adjustment mechanism. The rifle is no longer in production.

All the Sniper models I have seen in Canada had the Picatinny railed receiver. I wonder if there are any with the original Hensoldt scope and specialist STANAG mount?

Next question!! Difference between black and green other than colour?

With the exception of the Black Special Target, which is a flat top model with flip up sights, all of the full size variants are the same. Options are; Classic Green, Black Special, Red Devil, Blue Star and Heavy Metal. Only Black Special and Classic Green are still in production.

I had a black special and it was just a piece of ####. I couldn't hit anything with it past 25 yards. I put a bushnell scope on it and the same thing. I took it back to the gunshop I bought it from and they did not seem to really care. I sold it and 3 days later the guy who bought it wanted his money back. My AR, which I built from parts, is a tac driver. Go figure.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Why the hell would you sell a malfunctioning rifle (described in your own words as "a piece of s**t") to another individual without having it fixed or fully disclosing the nature of its problems? Are you really that irresponsible, or are you simply not telling the full story?

No s**t the guy wanted his money back.

Is any one else wondering why Banditos sounds pissed at the store he bought it from, when he appears to have turned around and done the same thing to the next guy down the line?

Well. F**k it.

Whatever.

Anyhow....

Yes. Have owned several. Current are Carbine and CQB. Love the whole series. Have a strong hankering for adding the precision rifle model to my safe.

This isn't the sniper version, but I did mount a Hensoldt scope on it. Fits perfect, with the bottom of the scope just above the top of the rear drum sight.
