I'm getting my .308 from ATRS in about a month and have to find glass. Has anybody had any experience with Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 X50. Should I just stick with a mark4 or even a nightforce?

They are excellent scopes. The glass on mine competes against my NF scopes. Repeatability is excellent as well.

The shortcomings: 1" tube, so less moa adjustment. This is one of the biggest disadvantages.
The cost has climbed in the last few years.

Pros: Great glass, good reticle choices, Constant/fixed eye relief (Same as NF, unlike Leupold).

That being said, for my next batch of scopes I'll probably be looking at the Sightron SIII for performance/value. The Zeiss Conquest was the winner a few years ago but the competition has changed, and the prices of the Conquest have gone up.

I just got my first Zeiss this week,a used Diavari. All I can say is wow! The difference between it and ther other scopes I owned and used truly is like night and day. The glass clarity is unbelievable.

Since you have a 308,I'd be tempted to try the Z-1000 reticle.

Diavari and Conquest are not the same glass or coatings. Night and day difference.
I'd put the Conquest on par with Leupold VX3.
The Diavari is in line with the high end Swarovski, Schmidt&Bender,Leica, etc. In other words, scopes approaching or surpassing the $2000 mark.

No actually it's one of the US made Diavaris. I wish it was one of the German ones.

If you're looking at the Leupold Mark IV, then I'd probably just go with the Night force. The cost isn't much more.

The Conquest is a good scope with some shortcomings. The Night force is an excellent scope with the only major shortcoming being the very high price.

The Sightron SIII is a good compromise at an excellent price.

what shortcomings??

what shortcomings??

1" tube, not enough moa (went with 1000 rapid z reticle and varmint because of this). Also the price was raised on them a while ago.

If they fixed the moa and went 30mm tube they'd be on top again.

Yes I own a few of these scopes.

do you have a Rapid Z-Varmint, 6.5-20x50mm? I see what you mean about 1", I like the 1" tube I guess, so I guess its not one of my shortcomings lol

Yup. I also have the 1000 yard rapid z reticle. I really like them, but if I were doing competition target shooting I'd want the extra moa to dial it in rather than the holdovers. For varminting/hunting/designated marksman I like the pride-fowler reticle (rapid z).
