I wanted to see what you eastern bloc pistol fans generally think of the CZ 52. What are its good points, bad points, and how much can I expect to pay for one...

they are kinda hard to find now they are a great pistol well built shoots good groups and they look very sinister .. You can get a 9mm barrel swap it out and your ready to go you can use the same mags too they go for around $400 on the EE when one pops up from time to time

everything is based on my personal experience with CZ 52 in cal 7.62x25
fair > good gun - can be considered as a little brother for your CZ 58/858
sold for aprox $400-450 in good/very good condition
some problems with feeding using surplus ammo ...yuck !
some small problems with broken firepin (brittle) - I had a broken one after 500 rnds
has no slide release, but there are some after market parts to solve this (too expensive)
grips can rattle if the clamp spring is loosing strength

IMO if you want something to shoot 7.62x25, I'll go for a non-refurb Russian TT 33

I love mine, nice gun. Haven't really shot it for groups but i can hit a milk jug consistently at 25 meters with it. Dis-assembly is dead easy and i have to say it fits my hand quite well. Only downside i have seen with it so far is that when your shooting it your thumb tends to bump the safety so you'll be shooting and you'll hear click instead of bang, kind of annoying. That and finding ammo can be a bit tricky, i'f you can find a 9mm barrel i would advise getting it, i have yet to find one. Price isn't to bad, i got mine of the EE couple months ago for 350 shipped, came with box, holster, 2 mags and cleaning rod.

So the common weakness is the firing pin. Should be no problem if you have access to a lathe, and it should be easy to make a firing pin. I have no problem with the Mag release, since it sounds like it operates like the P38. Also sounds like it has the same problem as the P38 when it comes to ammo preference.

Aesthetically, it looks sleek compared to the TT33...

Roller lock

Oh, I wish someone will see the light one day and design a .45Auto/10mm. with that same ultra-robust roller-locked system. No more barrel/bushing/link indexing problems and reliability above average.
Oh well, one can always dream...
PP. :)
