Remington 870 with bipod :)

I just received my new bipod for my fully rifled 870. Since its pretty uncommon(bipod for 870) i thought it would be interesting to share. I had to do some research to find a company that would make a bipod that attach to that gun without breaking the so-called "barrel harmonic" (I dont know if its even true... anyway, the bipod is not attached to the barel)

Edit: That setup cost in total 150$ for the adapter and the bipod and NO its not attach to the barrel, its a replacement magazine cap, see other pic.:

You can order these part from Versa-Pod directly, forget about reseller they are more expensive.

That looks like a versa pod bi-pod on some kind of adapter on the mag tube cap swivel stud, or replaces the stud with the mount for the versa pod. Nice bi-pod. Where did you end up getting yours?
 
I had a friend who owned a Ruger No. 1 in 45-70. In the light sporter class. He mounted his harris bipod to the barrel mounted, uncle mike's QD sling point. (not my idea)
While shooting it off the bench, in less than 20 rounds fired, the whole barrel band and QD sleeve was knocked loose by recoil. It jarred it so loose, one could almost remove it from the barrel, were it not for the front sight blade.
Arcaner, have you done some prior research before commiting to this project?
 
Yes, exactly for that reason I selected that adapter, to attach to the magazine instead of the barel like some people suggested me..

For those interested that setup cost about 150$ shipped from versa-pod directly. Its the Model 2 bipod with rubber feet and the adapter its the adapter for the rem 870. It is the ONLY solution i found made solely for the rem 870.

As a side node, I havent fired it yet but I have played with it a bit and am convinced it will work fine, it look really solid.

Eh....

Have you even considered the way the barrel is attached to the magazine. It doesn't make any difference whatsoever if the bipod is attached to the barrel or the magazine on a Remington 870....
If the magazine cap is screwed even just somewhat tight you're still going to have tension on the barrel.
So, yes, If you are unable to hold the gun still enough to hit anything at a hundred yards, it is probably an excellent investment, but when it comes to the issue of barrel harmonics it's a total waste of money...
 
I like it too. It would be interesting to see someone do a shooting test at 100 yards with different slugs from a slug gun on a bi-pod. I always wondered just how much accuracy could be attained using fully rifled shotgun barrels. And what slugs would do it best. Anyhow, keep us updated when you get out to fire it. I got 7 grouse, and 5 ptarmigan last night with my regular old 20ga mossberg shotty. I sure like the looks of your setup.
