I recently bought a Tavor rifle and I've been looking at that crazy mount behind the reflex sight. It's where you are supposed to attach your magnifier to work in conjunction with your reflex sight. What kinds of magnifiers can I attach to this thing? Do I have to buy that super-expensive Tavor magnifier I see on Canada Ammo or are there other magnifiers that will work on that mount?

It'd be lovely to see one of the fine Canadian manufacturers churn out a QD Aimpoint magnifier mount similar to the LT-649-T, pivoting and all.

I'm also waiting for an adapter from Rauch to allow me to mount a magnifier. Here's hoping it's ready shortly!

Cheers
Jay

I will be installing my "999" rail today and then I will put the H-1/LaRue mount and co-witness with the aimpoint 3X magnifier/LaRue pivot mount. We will see how it is going to work?

It's only super expensive because Canada Ammo says it is. Those same IWI MX3 magnifers (with a picatinny bottom) go for $400 in the States.

Same with the MARS sight. $900 over there.... $1500 here.

They're coming from the same place, so there shouldn't be that much of a descrepancy in price.

lack of bulk pricing, smaller markets, poor dollar BS aside, Canada Ammo is just taking advantage of the monopoly they hold over those accessories. Not too fair to the consumer buying the tavor. IMO they'd make more money pricing them reasonably. I've never seen anybody who bought one anyways; probably just because of the outragous price.

The Tavor has a strange mounting behind the rear backup sight. I think it's purpose built for the Tavor magnifier, but I'm not sure. Do you know if other brands would mount on the same spot?
