Hi,

I'm looking for a semi automatic gun resembling a "Sub-machine gun" (not a traditional looking long rifle). I want one which fires .22 LR rounds. I am not at all keen on buying a ruger 10/22 and then completely modifying it, despite lower cost. The GSG-5 is a good example of what i want; although, I heard that they are no longer in production. If anybody can contribute towards a list of guns that meet this criteria, it would be much appreciated.

My requirements are:
-the gun is semi-auto
-it fires .22LR
-has a high capacity clip (20 or more)
-has iron sights
-Preferably, it should be non restricted
-the magazine should not look like a bent wiener (SR22)
-the gun should not look like a traditional rifle (ruger 10/22)
-It may have optic potential
-plastic stock is preferred
-main uses would be target practice
-The gun should be within 750 or so dollars.
-The more common and available it is, the better.

Here are some of the rifles that fit my requirements:

-GSG-5 (unknown restriction????)
-S&W 15-22 (restricted, so not the best option)
-GSG AK47 .22LR (unrestricted?)

The S&W 15-22 is an ideal rifle; unfortunately, i've heard that it is restricted. Are there any similar rifles that are unrestricted?

I appreciate any suggestions greatly!
Cheers,

I truly hope you don't get any responses. this is exactly the type of thread that shouldn't be started.

be patient and look around on the site, you'll find something soon. but for 750 i would still suggest the ruger and dress it up. just buy the cheapest one you can and buy all the other parts you want. but if thats not for you then thats not for you./

really? why? because he wants something with a hi cap mag?????dont we all want guns with higher cap mags? i do. it doesnt sound like he wants to kill people with it. if that was his plan he would be asking about something with a bigger round wouldnt he? other wise hes just a dumbass for trying to kill somebody with a .22. not that they cant kill but theres much better options out there.

knock your socks of Rambo

Yep, the Pps-50 is as close to your requirements as anything on the Canadian market right now, and it kinda sorta looks like a WWII PPsH as an added bonus.

Hopefully the Sig 522 makes it here as unrestricted, and with it using Black Dog magazines there might be some nice hi-cap options available for it also.

You people are ridiculous.

I HAVE NO EVIL, ILLEGAL, OR IDIOTIC INTENTIONS.

This summer, I'm planning to take up target practice as a new hobby. Unlike many of my university friends, I wish to take up a real sport rather than sitting-in all summer playing shooting games.

My choice of guns I want to purchase:

I want a good rifle:
-bolt action
-internal magazine
-iron sight
-shoots inexpensive ammunition

My final choice is a Mosin Nagant.

I also want a semi automatic rifle; unfortunately, the Canadian government gives me few choices of rifles with more rounds than 5. I really don't want to get an amazing rifle, only to have a 30 round clip pinned to 5. A .22 appears to be a go to caliber for the sake of a larger magazine.

The reason why I posted this thread is because I've failed to find any number of CANADIAN RELEVANT sources. My local gun store had poor information and selection. So, I turned to this forum which i hoped would help, rather than insult and taunt me.

Gentlemen, and ladies, if you don't want to help me, please don't reply to this thread.

Dude.....;)....

One of the leading reasons that rimfires are purchased is specifically b/c of the tacticool aspects! :D

How else would mall-ninjas arms themselves?

Relax :yingyang: - there is (almost :nest: ) absolutely no one here who would fault you for wanting to go with a high-cap, cool-looking .22 - as a Canadian, it's your "right" :p , and one that ought to be milked for all that it's worth!

And a quick comment on most people here - they're dang fine individuals. Just be aware than into every large group of folk some weirdness may fall.....

In conclusion, that Pietta looks pretty sweet! :)

if you want tacticool, why not just get a sr22? ya, the mag looks like a wiener but it's hicap and it works :) and it's non restricted. either the sr22 or vtr are about the only choices for tacticool rifles that are already pimped out from factory. or you can buy the kit for a 10/22 and do it all yourself.

good luck!!

yes, we all want hicap mags - and the rimfire makes us feel like we still have a little bit of freedom left.

I'm kinda what you are looking for does not exist? The only high capacity mags that are not bent that I have ever seen were the 20 round Gevarm mags. They were on a model called the E1. They may even have open sights. Usually go for around $500.00 used. FS

I'm pretty sure he was saying that because of the over abundance of such threads, and available information already been posted in the forum.
Not everyone who opposes a new thread is a left-wing nutjub.

the op's description of what he wants fits the profile of the gun everyone is 'scared' of and wants to ban, bringing attention to it in the way the OP was framed, was less than brilliant. rah rah! everyone has a right to be bold, its just not always wise to do so.
