I overheard some guys discussing a proposed, limited, handgun hunting season. Is this for real, or just wishful thinking?
i think the place to start would be pressuring for a small game handgun hunting season, this will overcome the "wounded deer, shot with inadequate handgun" crowd.
Should be - shot by inadequate shooter
i agree, but any debate about handgun hunting is going to have some hunters show up concerned about guys blazing away at moose with some 9mm autoloader. and baby steps are probably the way to go. to me this means small game for a start.
One possible outcome with the baby steps:
a) you will never win over those hunters with that mindset anyways
b) if you go the "just for small game route" you would be playing their game again that handguns shouldn't be used for hunting big game
Why would it be OK to wound small game IF that is a concern? Am I to believe that a person competent enough to take small game will somehow not be proficient enough to cleanly take a larger animal?
If this is what we want, why are we supplying the caveats to go with it?![]()
