Short Barrelled Revolver........For My Wife!

If she likes revolvers the Ruger 4.2 is a very sweet and well balanced shooter.

and cause its got the internal grip tang you can go very small on the grips if need be for her like the sp101 grips I put on mine for the missus, complete with pink'ish wood inserts that no doubt your missus would love as mine does :D

And the fact that it isn't a lady size gun will soak up the recoil better for her. But there's still lots of grunt if she wants it by just loading up some .357Mag rounds.

Mak, is it a lot of work to swap the grips if he wants some more manly size ones for his mitts for the day? Like do they just slip off or is there some pulling, tugging and sweat involved du to a firm press fit? Although if there is I wonder if a little rubber friendly oil or grease would ease the swap so it's quick and easy to convert from His to Her's and back.

I bought my GP-100 4.2 from Shooters Choice in Arrowwood AB a few months ago. Roger was great to deal with. I don't know if you will be able to find a new one from a dealer ,,, they seem to be in short supply. Go figure, it's a great gun!

Gunnar (Armoco) has a 4" on his used site but that's a 12(6).

Well, if you're looking at single actions then there's any number of the short barrelled 4 3/4 inch SAA's from a number of makers. And with a slimming job done to the wooden grips they would fit a smaller hand size very nicely.

If you're looking for a single action revolver, the smallest non 12-6 revolvers in Canada are the North American Arms Minimaster and The Earl. They all shoot 22LR and 22Mag.

We imported them with custom made batches to be legal in Canada.

And great fun those NAA guns are. But they are small enough that they are a challenge to hold so they may not be for everyone. Having typed that I'm loving The Earl (the second one) that I got recently. And with some get aquaintting time I'm now shooting sub 3 inch groups at around 10 yards. My best is around 1.5 inchs for 5 shots which I've done 4 or 5 times now.

The barrels on them are 4.2 inches long from the face of the cylinder to the muzzle. Measure the pictures on your monitor to figure out if the pictures are life size or not.

I understand they were sold out as soon as they landed. Will you bring in more in the future and what is the OAL of the mini master?

Thanks

Trigun

More are on the way. Just waiting for NAA to make them. It'll probably be a month or two before they're in Canada again.

I don't know the OAL offhand, but I can measure one in the next few days if you desire.

This should just be a "Short Barrelled Revolver" thread. I wanna see everything available that's not 12.6!

Does anyone think that importing through Dave's Sports might be the way to go for something different? Are there any US manufacturers doing a +4" barrel?

The one that Kodiak import is not 12.6, they have Canada legal barrel but still very small. Plus they are very inexpensive.

Yep, currently the only "near 12-6" revolver options come from Ruger via a few various Canadian dealers or the NAA mini revolvers from Kodiak. The only other option is a custom barrel cut and recrown to an already existing restricted gun.

The grip swap is easy as pie :) basically slip right off and other grip on, for the small grip you see on mine you just remove the middle screw, take the pannels off and push out a large metal pin/plug at the bottom of the tang that goes through the grip under the pannels and slide the grip off.

The Houge doesn't have that original middle screw/wood panel type mount, it screws on at the bottom to a clip that you have to put place back on the end of the tang then slide the Houge on and screw in from the bottom.

Kinda hard to explain but it's easy and no alterations to the gun are required. Takes like 2 minutes with a screw driver.
