Local shop just got a few of these in. Seem like a nice rifle for under $1000. However, never having seen this brand before, wanted to see what guys have to say. Anybody have much experience with Steyr? Is it a good deal for therse. I was impressed at first look but are there red flags?
 
I have the steyr prohunter in .308. It is a great rifle. accurate to much further than I can shoot.

What shop? PM me so the contributing stores don't get upset.

I have only seen one available in the past year at well over 1300.

I am not sure about the mountain but the prohunter is very comfortable and very low recoil. Get a good scope and you have a real good shooter.
 
Its one of the contributing dealers on CGN local here in Lloydminster. He only had them in 270 and 7/08 but I guess, since he advertises here, I can open my mouth? He got them listed in shop at $949. I'll PM you with the shop name.

I know little of Steyr other than I thought they were a quality brand. I might have to pick one up as my 'mountain' rifle if they are, in fact, a good accurate rifle. Not really more $$$ than Tikkas (not to knock Tikkas but this felt a whole lot better) Thanks for the input; looking for other opinions good or bad; might have to go back in the AM as there wasn't many thee. Pays to be local and know the owner fairly well ;)
