Finding AIA Mags

I have only #####ed about it on the internet so far.

No matter how I try to chamber a round the cartridge hangs up every 3rd shot or so.

The rounds move forward while in the magazine and I have to reef on the bolt to chamber the cartridge and most the time the tip of the round points downward in the mag while pushing the bolt causing a jam.

That sounds like the front of the mag is not fully inserted or that the follower is cockeyed.

Are the mags seated fully? Are you working the bolt smartly or easing it ahead? Have you taken your issue up with the vendor or just #####ed about it on the Internet?

My AIA mags work perfectly in two completely different rifles.

Bearhunter,
AIA rifles in 7.62x39 would sell much better than the 7.62 Nato guns. 10 would go quickly, especially if you could do a mag with 10 rounds or greater capacity.

Do you really think so?
Look at all the very nice Russian SKS rifles floating around at the $200 or so price level...someone will pay 4X the price to work a bolt?

I do like AIA's but question how many people would pay 4X the price of an SKS to shoot the same cartridge.

If it is not feeding right, Get a hold of John at Marstar, or at least try to. He services what he sells and stands behind it 100%. Might cost you shipping though.

Before that, try the other mag that came with the rifle and make sure to give it a good solid hit from the bottom to make sure it is seated right. Mine is pretty tight to get in and I need to do this.

Stevo, the prices would be double that of the Marstar AIA rifles. Marstar got those rifles at decent prices and passed the savings on to us.

I have a gun nut in new Zealand who can help. Is it legal to import AIA mags from new Zealand to Canada without any paperwork?

tried that route and the new zealand dealer i was working thru in the end could not provide. I also tried convincing another major canadian player import a bunch and all i saw of it was samples. there must be a reason that they are not being imported seperately in bulk (magazines that is) and my guess is that some of our dealer fear the boys with yellow stripes on thier pants would sieze them the minute they hit customs...... and they are probably right. I wouldn't risk my business capital either :D

m14 mags will work in your AIA, but as said previously by others, they are capped at 5.
incidentally, the 10 round AIA mags that i have fit and function in my m14 as smooth as an m14 mag ;)
i've only shot a couple of the AIA .308 rifles and was very impressed.... and sad i did not buy one of the B2 rifles when i had a chance.

I thought the AIA mags didn't have the rectangular notch in the front of the mag like an M14 mag does. How are they clipping into the M14 oprod guide catch?

Tinfoil hat time: I suspect that there is a very good reason we cannot get cheap AIA mags in more than 5 rounds. I suspect the few people who have them are concerned that if they arrive in bulk, the CFO will rule them "M14 mags" and force them to all be mag lkimited to 5 rds :(

It's a safe bet FAR MORE M14 ownerswould buy these mags than AIA owners.

Yes & you frogot the most important part...
THEY HAVE CHROMED FOLLOWERS!
Once you've shot an M14 with this chomed follower you will relieze why it's so nice! Although because the mag dosn't have the whole it does on certain rifle's it will bump out of the rifle some times.

Does anyone know the legalities of a Canadian in Austrailia buying these and sending them back in the mail? Or a non PAL person bringing them back to Canada?

If any aussies can let me know I have someone down there right now that could buy and send back. (if its legal for them to buy mags down there)

Last time I checked with my Aussie Brother in law Aussies can't mail firearm parts out of their country, without going through a fair bit of paperwork, and yes their mail is screened quite heavily by their Government.
