NEA Hand guards - redeux

Hey Charles, I just acquired one of the flash hiders pictured above. I was looking for a compensator/break and wolverine sent me that instead of the old czech large port type. I wont be able to test it out for a few weeks though. Does it have muzzle breaking or compensating characteristics too? It looked to me like just a flash hider.

Oh, and regardless, it is an impeccably machined and superb quality part.

yes, but considering we sold over 300 sets of hand guards in Dec and Jan @ $280 per set, i would say $180 per set is a steal and a very rare instance of a manufacturer passing on savings to the customer. The rail segments are $20ish, not really a bank breaker. The alternative is fab plastic @ $100 or B&T at $400 a set.

Our product in every case is well below what our competition is charging. Take our hybrid for instance, $40 for a stainless steel, black oxide coated brake. The next closest brake of that quality is $60, we could have marked it up, but we are within margins and again felt it best to pass on the savings to you guys.

Is that a flash suppressor or a muzzle brake? Looks more like a flash suppressor to me?

I'd say both, hipshoot your rifle or have someone shoot it for you, you will feel a nice blast of gas on your face!

edit: post was meant to be a responce to jcoulson

Excuse me for not doing more research on this but does the upper hand guard ensure repeatable zero when it is disassembled for cleaning? Will it allow co-witness with an Aimpoint Micro?

Depends on the revision.

I bought a "new" Gen3 off the EE, and it has up and down play that would change the point of impact a fair amount, but no side to side thus far.

Kind of makes a $700 aimpoint almost pointless, though for the time being I just make sure that the mount is pushed down... seems pretty good.

edit: well I guess 0.001" seems like a lot to me, but it's there. Measured from top of rail to bottom of lower hand guard with Kanon Vernier calipers.

With a longer set screw in the detent hole you can remove the up and down play.

I have Gen 3 and 4 uppers and they both will return to zero. Keep in mind there is a LOT of difference in dimensions between individual rifles out there.

I agree.

My solution. When the time comes, I'm going to buy a restricted 858 model and this gen3 will be mounted to look pretty. At that point whatever is the latest NEA mount will be installed on my non-restricted CZ858.

What's wrong with the B+T rail. Sorry if this is off topic but I was thinking of getting one for my VZ.

B&T are great rails.I bought the pair, used the lower with the NEA upper to cowitness the aimpoint micro. The B&T upper was a little high. It's in a box waiting to go to work.Click the X for Pic.

Thanks for the pic, Mr. Martel! Looks slick, indeed.

I went ahead and ordered the 'old' version of your handguard set since pricing for those are awesome right now. I guess I can always bolt on a rail to the right side if I feel the need for a weapon light in the future. Thanks for the fantastic products!
