Weird. Just got back from the Lanark gunshow. It was quite well attended with 40 or 50 tables. In total there were oddly no more than 5 SKS's at the whole show and not a single other red rifle apart from a couple well overpriced Finn mosins.

I saw three Russian SKS's, all were franken-pin black bolt refurbs. A late 50, a 51 and a 53. Painted finish on all, covers heavily sandblasted prior to refinishing. Yuck. All were priced about $300, which is about $120 more than Lebaron in Ottawa, a mere 40 minute drive away sells silver bolt refurbs for. Not sure what that vendor was thinking. I don't think he sold any.

Another guy had two Chinese SKS's. One was a decent Factory 306, but he wanted $229 for it, while lots of dealers are selling them for $179. No thanks buddy. The other was a rectangle-code, don't remember which, but it was all pimped out and bubba'd (poorly). Buddy wanted like $400.

Not a single VZ and no accessories. LOTS of Fudd guns, and not a single black rifle apart from one overpriced SP1 upper. I went to buy an AR15 CAR stock wrench, but couldn't find a single one at the show. Not one. Some NC Star dealer was there though with a lot of low-price tacticool AR add-ons. Nothing really nice though.

I left with some nice Lyman 7x57 dies (only to find out when I got home that I already had a set of RCBS ones - d'oh!) and a couple 7.62 magpuls.

At least I saw a lot of fellow CGN'ers.

It's a standard show.

Very very standard show.

Only 2 nice set up, and, these guy are from Montreal. They are always at Longueuil Gun Show.

All stuff is well over priced.

Buy only a chalk for my turkey call.

All around from 09.00 to 11.30 Hres.

The most interesting thing was "The rope man" at the door.

Ropes for all taste.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

Actually there were 5 black bolt Russians on the same table at 9:00,one blonde laminate in the bunch. 3 guys had Chinese, only one of them had the newly imported ones. The /306\ one had wood the almost looked like it should be on a Yugo. I was looking hard at it,but Enfield P reminded me BadBoyBeeson has them for $169 at CT in Belleville,so I passed. First time I've been to the Perth Show and did not buy a gun. Show was bigger and brighter than Perth. But too many non-gun tables. Myself I go to a gun show for guns and hunting related items not fishing and flea market type stuff!

I was there. I agree, not much to see, overpriced & the only thing I bought was a spare plug for my duckboat emergency kit. Grand Total, 2 BUCKS!

To be honest, when we left, I simply said to my wife, "I don't know why I bother... I can buy whatever I want off the net @ way better prices... No hassle... etc..."

She said, "Ya, but once in awhile, you do find a gem..."

Ah, my wife, the eternal optimist!

Cheers

Could be worse, at the HACS show out here in BC, some guy was selling them for $600 with a crate of ammo.

I'm pretty sure lever arms still has the rifle and crate for $350 deal going. At the very least, at the time of the show they were still doing that lol I have no idea what that guy was thinking.

I stopped going to Ontario gunshows years ago. To me they have lost their pizazz. Same bunch of guys go to each one, overpriced and mostly about non guns. Is it me or has anyone else found this?
Has the internet finally killed the gunshows?

Just got back from the Penticton, BC show today. There wasn't a single SKS in sight. There weren't many milsurps at all. There were two minty P17s, one with bayonet that went for $650, it was one of the refurbed and parked Eddystones. There was another P17, reheat treated and as new for $695. A $70% 1903 for $695 and a couple of 80% No4 Mk1* as well as two minty refurbed No1 MkIII* that were all priced in the $500 range. Some good ammunition and reloading prices and one solitary case of 7.62x54 for $299.
I also found a Mosin sniper bolt with sniper handle, looks to be origininal for $10. The fellow just didn't know what he had and to tell the truth, in that light it was hard to tell if it was original or not, so the $10 was appropriate.
There was also an 1884 Springfield Cadet in 45-70 for $725, at $85% that was a decent price for a shooter that doesn't require registration.

I guess you need to get lucky and hit one of those estate sales where some fellow gun nut has passed on and leaves his 50+ gun collection up for auction. Deals are better, market price actually comes into play for once.
