Could anyone please tell me the difference between these two tactical shotguns, besides the rail? Are the receivers/internals the same or is it a completely upgraded gun? I am most interested in a non-folding, non-pistol grip stock; Just a conventionally stocked high-end, semi-auto shotgun.

the M4 uses their "ARGO" (Auto Regulating Gas Operated) piston system while the M2 use their spring "Inertia Driven" bolt mechanism (similar to the M1).

The M2 is a much lighter gun and felt recoil is substantially more than with the M4 (in fact, the M4 has no recoil :) ).

I wouldn't say "no recoil" but very little :p

I would say with 2-3/4" buckshot its similar to the recoil of a Springfield M1a.

After trying both of these, albeit briefly, I prefer the M2.

It's much lighter, IMO handles better and gives you more sighting options. I like the fact that the M2 doesn't have a silly crimped mag tube like the M4 does.

The M2 has more recoil than the M4 or any other gas auto but still less than any comparable pump that's not wearing a recoil dampening stock, so it's still not too bad.

Wow - guys - thanks for the PM's on the straight stock - I didn't know there was that much interest!

To be honest - I have ZERO idea what it's worth. I'll find out and get back to you. :)

just as RL1 said, there is a significant difference in felt recoil.
After shooting them side by side, the M2 feels like being kicked by a mule!
Both shotguns had the same barrel length, but the M4 was considerably more accurate beyond 75 metres. In fact we were hitting targets out to 150 metres with Rem high velocity slugs.
