Hey guys our M14 scope mount has been way behind schedule but we are getting close. As we make all our parts in Canada with Alberta Journeyman Machinists in an ISO 9001 shop our cost is quite high. We are looking at ways to keep the cost of our M14 mounts down. We are doing a brookefield style mount. One thing that we are tossing around is do we need to make the mount see-thru for use of iron sights? We feel that any rifle we have that we put a scope on the irons become an afterthought. But seeing how you guys are the end user we want to know what you want??????

i am not a fan of sight grooved mounts..... they only allow a field of view as much as the channel allows.... the ARMS.... without the optic on, affords an unlimited field of view from the rear sights.

I personally like the arms style better but I think many guys like the backup irons option

I fail to see how this effects mount height?

Lower the mount and then you don't need a channel at all. I have never used the channels one the Brookfield type mounts without removing the optic anyhow. Its pretty straight forward, lower is always better... in this case at least.

I would go with a mount that is quite low that once you remove your scope you could use your iron sights ... as I would mount a scope on mine with quick release mounts ... but that's me! :D
