Any chances of seeing this available in Canada? Or am i gonna have to move to the states!?

I realize it just released to civilians, but i just wanted to know if theres been talk of it making it to Canada.

You can get it in 18" barrel with folding stock, so would this have a chance in Canada and what would it be classified as?

It really depends on whether US DOS will allow it to be exported. The SCAR is coming, but the ones that Questar is bringing in are from Belgium.

All of the Scars are made in Belgium
:)

ACR would have to get a FRT # export shouldnt be a problem why would you want one!

That can't be possible since non-sporting rifles cannot be imported to the US and the SCAR 16S is available in the US. At the very least they are selling a 922r compliant SCAR with a US-made receiver and other parts (like the SIG556).

Assembled partialy in the US the box ie: all of them says made in Belgium.

Unless the US Military signs contracts to purchase massive quantity, they will not be made in the US of A.

The SCAR is made in south carolina, I spoke to FN at the NRA show. At least many of the parts and the assembly is done in SC, wouldn't surprise me if some of the parts are imported. The US has US-source contract clauses for military small arms like this usually, certainly they do for the M16/M4 and M9. In the interests of national security.

Anyway, I quite like the Bushmaster ACR, but it does seem overpriced going by the Bushmaster website. I'd rather have one than a SCAR at any rate, the trigger mech looks the same as the AR-15 so a trigger job would be easy.

The ACR has a few things going for it already:

- Fixed stock
- uses fairly modified AR barrels (able to get/make .223 chamberings)

You would need to get something like a muzzle brake or a plain non-threaded barrel....

They are gonna be very pricey though....

ACR is a fat chick that needs some gym time desparately - before then, only the durnk and the desparate will want to take her out for a spin.

Ditto.

I played with Larry Vicker's last week, he bought it only for his collection, and I can see why if you have a super cool collection you'd want one, but its a waste of space in the safe if you only have a few.

FN - despite the marketing hype, the Mk16S is made in Belgium, they ship them to FNMI in SC and they add US made furniture, strip the thumbhole stock and the other stupidity, and ship it back to FN H, to be re-used on subsequent shipments.

If they had short barrels for the Mk16S, I would consider it.

Thank you Kevin for injecting some facts where fiction may sometimes run rampant.

I love the 2 shows Larry Vicker's hosts, tactical impact and tactical arms are right up their with future weapons. I can just imagine the collection of stuff he has.

What didn't you like about it?

My guess is the barrel profile, barrel twist rate, the excessive weight (all of which is up front), and the price. The charging handle and safety don't have a positive feel about them either. Dropping the bolt release and smacking the charging handle against your ready support hand sucks as well.

Does the charging handle smack your support hand only if you manually lock the bolt back? It's non-reciprocating, so this wouldn't happen when the bolt locks on an empty mag, correct?
