Trying to decide between a Falcon 5.5-25x50 or a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 tactical....
Sorry, can't afford a nightforce. This is going on my Savage 10FP with a choate stock. Planning on flingin' some rounds out to 800 metres. Will be buying Burris rings with inserts to fix any elevation issues.
Thoughts?

This is an age old question, and the best answer I can give you for precision shooting would be the best one that you can afford, there are countless threads on what scopes are good and bad already.

Dont have any experience with falcon but that bushnell is a good scope. The only reason I didnt buy one last week while shopping for a scope is it didnt have enough elevation for me. Mount it on a 20moa base with decent rings and you will be ok.

despite teh fact that I have read that the falcon is a good "bang for the buck" scope, I decided to go with the bushnell. At close distances I am sure the falcon is just fine, but at longer distances I would prefer the better optics (BTW the bushnell 6-24 nows comes in FFP :dancingbanana: )

yes t36 my bad. I ended up buying a bushnell elite 4200 6-24. When I compared it to my leupold 4-12 vx II the image appeared not quite as clear. I think that optics is an item that you really get what you pay for. On my bushnell I paid for a tactical style rectical and variable zoom. To reach their price point the company makes a compromise on the optics. I think with the boring fixed power you are only spending less on the cool doodads and more on the optics.
