new FN SCAR 16

FRT# has been issued for the FN SCAR 16S. Restricted due to bbl (16.25").

Please quote the FRT# because as of this evening the on-line FRT still does NOT show any listing for a SCAR 16s or any semi-auto version of the SCAR (I just checked again).

As of late last week RCMP/CFC confirmed receipt of our sample and indicated this gun is currently 3rd in line for review. They stated that they estimate review/inspection would take place in approximately 6 weeks.

If you have actual information please give us the actual FRT# as we'd be very happy to contact Tables Section to confirm your facts... but as it stands I seriously question the validity of your statement above.

My apologies clearly I was miss-informed. Do you have a time-line on the 522 classification?

3rd in line and they'll get to it in 6 weeks?! What the hell do they do in their fancy little labs?

Are they trying to look important so they can keep their job!? Seriously...open the box, take a peek at the gun, put gun back in box, ship the gun back to Questar. Shoot a few hundred rounds with tax payers money at most but how the hell can it take 6 weeks!

ps. whats 1st and 2nd in line?

They try like hell to make it go FA. :p

Full-Auto's overrated anyway. It's expensive, and you don't hit anything.
... so I'd probably enjoy the SCAR full auto or not.
Do I wish full auto was legal? Hell yeah.

funny thing about FA.
I have been to a FA shoot in Abany, Oregon, and had the chance to burn a few mags.
A dumb as it sounds, I was trying to make the moment last and not blow up US $20 in 3 seconds flat, so I found myself taking short little bursts.

What's really disappointing is that after 86 in the US you can't produce a machine gun for civilian sale. That's why FN produced a semi-only version for sale in the US. I guess though the RCMP have to make sure the "i's" are dotted an the " T's" are crossed.

Exactly the uppers and lowers of the Scar 16S (civilian) and the MK16 (military) are not compatible, you cant switch lowers to uppers.
The only thing you could do would be to make a new trigger pack for the lower, but then have the problem of the upper with the BCG not working.

I've had the chance to shoot a Mac-11 down in the US... and I found myself doing the same thing. It's fun, but it's a big waste of money, and the thrill fades after a while. It'd be more fun if I was doing some action shooting... but using it on paper at a gun range... not too great, and very expensive.
