Anyone know what are my options for a restricted, .22 revolver with swing out cylinders, preferably more than 6 shots?

What about vendors who sell and pricing info?

Just looking for a good, cheap, plinking gun.

S&W 617, 10 shots. It's not cheap but its very well made and you do get your moneys worth, a used one will be cheaper.

Taurus makes revolvers with a swing out 9 shot cylinder. I think they will cost less than the S&W.

I've got a couple of cheaper 9 shot revolvers.

Harrington and Richardson make a few different 9 shot top break models. Not a swing out but the point is that it ejects all the empties in one action and the whole back of the cylinder is open for loading. My version is the Sportsman.

Hi Standard makes a swing out cylinder Double 9. It looks like a single action but it's really a swing out cylinder double/single. But the double action is truly brutal so I just treat it as a single action. It actually shoots darned decently

My H&R was less than $200. I paid a little over $200 for the Double 9 but I've since seen one go for a little less than $200.

In addtion to the 617 S&W also makes a sweet little J framed 8 shot called the Model 63.

S&W 17/18/617/K22/34 and a few others. Colt Officers Model Match/Diamondback/Trooper Mk III/Police Positive and Police Positive Target. Dan Wesson 22V&VH/622 V&VH. Ruger made the 101 in 22 as well, but you don't see many of them with the longer barrels. Rossi and Taurus both make/made 22 revolvers, but parts and warranty are issues in Canada. H&R as mentioned. Charter Arms made 22 revolvers as well. - dan

While they are only 6 and not 10 shot cylinders, the best combination of quality, collectability and price are the SW model 17's. Accurate, great triggers, K frame will last forever, they are appreciating in value and generally cost less than $400 in VG condition.

:agree:

None of the other options for a .22 revolver with a swing out cylinder come close to a S&W. Used Model 17s are an excellent value, considering the recently reintroduced new ones are going for well over $1000.

Personally, I also prefer the looks and balance of the barrels without the underlug.
