What should I ask for my Colt AR15

Hey guys, I've had this thing for a long time but it's time to go, I'd like to sell it on CGN or take it to a local shop and sell it there. What should I ask for it? It was built sometime in the 80s (how do I check the actual manufacture date? I didn't see its serial number in an online list) and has never been fired or even handled that much outside of its case. I even have the little manual, and the cleaning kit is sealed in their little bags. It's a SP1.

Based on present prices in the EE... about $1 Million. And someone's first born. It IS a Colt, after all.

That, or $1,500-ish. More if you're not exactly 'motivated' and are willing to start higher, hoping for a noob-nibble like jobbass suggested.

If it's HBAR or accurized, it'll be worth more. Sounds like it's a stock SP1, so I'd think starting at maybe $1,700 would be a good bet (based on what I've seen the ones which actually DID sell go for). Somebody will pay it...

Of course, you're going to be looking for people willing to pay the "Colt" premium... I have a Bushmaster, personally, and don't see what the 'big deal' is with the Colts since I shoot my AR15 rather than 'collecting' it.

I'd $1100-$1500 depending on condition. From your description, on the higher side.

I enjoy your posts too much to say "You're mad", but..

...then again you could be right.

Oh, I agree totally... ***I*** personally wouldn't go more than $1,200 for that rifle.

But I've seen ads on the EE for $1950 that said "SPF" in 2 days.

So, figuring that he wants to get the most bang for his buck... there's obviously a Colt fanatic out there who'll pay it somewhere, if he's willing to drop his line and troll for a while... ;)
