My objective is to build a SPR type AR15 upper.
18" stainless, 1/8, .223 wylde chamber, mid-length gas port, medium contour.

But currently, i have the choice between 3 or 4 different barrel blank makes.
I would like your opinion on which type of blank to start with:
- Rock Creek 5R
- Lilja
- Lothar Walther LW50
- Shilen

I'm thinking of asking Alberta Tactical Rifle for turning the blank, adding the extension, threading, provide bolt, check headspace, etc...

And in another category:
- E.R. Shaw barrel, ready to drop in the upper... but they only make 1/7 or 1/9 and only .223 chamber or 5.56 nato... the less expensive option.

All of the 4 barrels are going to produce a good shooter. ER SHAW is not a match quality barrel so results will not be as good.

Shilen can offer the barrel in various states of completion including ready for drop in install. See their site for options.

I use a number of their drop ins for Savage and their machining and chambering are match quality.

Beyond that - price, availability, turnaround, etc.

I once had a 'real' (ish) spr upper. The barrel was from Compass Lake Engineering. For what it's worth.

I am also waiting for some Ar10 and Ar15barrel, one in 18" Ar15 and the other are 22" Ar10 both will be flue, but spiral flue, make it more interesting. when it finish, it will look something like this but with Surefire Muzzle break.
