Anybody try this yet? Tried the search no go.Looks like a good way to keep the dominant(righthand) on the rifle in the ready position and use the left to load.Yea/nays. Did a quick google search and someone suggested using the cocking handle from a SKS bolt carrier and grafting it on a AK bolt.Could work for us? Later

Reach under the rifle and rack it with your weak hand. No mods required.

Or get a left-side charging handle made.

Take a look at these by Lightning Bolt. They are spendy at $250, but they will do custom work and ship internationally. If anything, it lets you see what is offered.

I prefer the Rauch Tactical design myself. I have a custom left-side charging handle on my AK47 (not a Lightning Bolt though) and this type of handle works well for me. They are also used on Albanian SKS's on the right-hand side.

If you were to put a Galil-style handle on the right-hand side in a upright configuration instead of the normal 45 degrees, just make sure it is extra tall so you can grip it fast without turning the gun over, because it will still be mounted on the slanted side of the bolt carrier. An SKS style handle might be tall enough to do this.

Tromix also sells this one on several sights:

and the Tromix skull handle:

Overall, using an SKS bolt carrier knob may be least expensive, but you may be able to come up with a custom design (like the skull handle) that you like better.

I have also seen an AK47 bolt carrier with an AK handle on the left side and an upright AK handle on the right, in a Galil-style position. This would not have any sharp edges to grab on if you racked it in a hurry.

How long is shortly, Dave? Thanks guys for the further posts.

I stopped giving out release dates once I realized that they are largely out of my control. I wish I could be more exact but I just can't. This summer. If they're in sooner, great. if not.. this summer. ;)
