First Time Build Rem 700 .308 Tactical Style (CFB Borden Long Range Report)

No problem at all and I hope my trial and error can help out lol, as I mentioned I should have a 800-1000 yard range report and pics from CFB Borden before the end of May.
Very cool. I trying to shoot past 200 too with my 20" SPS tactical this summer. It's not as ###y as yours but it shoots really well with my handloads.
Thanks for sharing your pics. I'm getting good ideas for when I accessorize it.
So I finally got a part for my rifle that I have needed for sometime, I just bought a Accushot monopod from from Drew at Reloaders with the tactical metal bottom and quick adjust button. I have been struggling for sometime with the problem of having my butt end of my rifle high enough, I have tried allot of different things short of a quality monopod. I have bad arthritis and this forces me to have my equipment set higher, my bipod sits all the way up and I need the back to sit flush with my cheek. I already have the cheek riser and now with this monopd it should be much much better. All in all asides from actually shooting with it this Accushot monopod is more then I expected and its made from high quality metals, the only thing I might look back on is getting the one size bigger as I would rather have more then less adjustment ability and I would also get the locking version even thought I don't think I would need it.

First off, GET OUT OF MY HEAD! LOL!!! I have just started searchng and reading the great posts on the precision rifle section and you have just built the rifle I have in my head. GReat job and thank you for all the great range reports and information about suppliers you have dealt with.
Secondly, I am in Toronto as well and it is good to see that we have knowleedgeable shooters and good suppliers to deal with in this firearn unfriendly city.
I have to ask what range you belong to if you don't mind as I am looking at getting back into shooting and was wondering where you do your long range shooting at?

There is one note though on reloading your own rounds on the R700 series.
Through measuments and having a small jump to the lands gave me an OAL of 2.887 .... this length does not fit into the existing internal mag.

Thanks for the good words and I'm glad I could help in some way, it's been others help that got me the little way I've come so far. I belong to Silverdale range in Grimsby Area, as for the long range I am member of the ORA and shot with them when I can at Base Borden.

I haven't had the chance to shot it with the new monopod, but I like the way everything sits now and i it should make a big difference for prone shooting. It seems like a real nice tough product, I did see someone selling another real nice one from another company for less money on the EE parts and bits section after I bought mine.

I just got the falcon 4-14x44, do you have any pointers to shooting with it? Any thing bug you about it, or have trouble with it? Like Matt, dude you've done what we are all doing or planning. Love your m14 as well. Props, keep up the reports. Have a good one.

I love the Falcon Scopes there nice to use, look cool and there Cheap. The best thing I did to better myself for the use of my scope was to take a precision shooting class, there they went into great detail on how to learn the MOA and Mildot systems. Ever since I learned that stuff distance scooting and sighting in has been allot easier and allot more fun.

I am looking to get some inexpensive work done over the winter on the Rem 700 SPS posted in this thread, I am not in need of a new barrel yet so I'm interested in getting my action trued. I have looked into it from a local gunsmith I've been to before and his price is $150 which includes action lugs, face, bolt lugs and breach face.
How does this improve the rifle and is it worth the money to do this before I change the barrel?
