I must say this handgun is a blast and I cant wait to go again! Whomever says that .45 ACP has serious recoil is a wimp :D

I do need to go back and move the rear sight though since the gun was shooting to the right.

Also how far does your brass go? A friend was two stalls down and said my brass was actually coming over to his shooting lane :D

The only problem was this, my last shot of the day:

The gun jammed on the final shot and had to turn the gun upside down and give it a shake for this shell casing to fall out.

Needless to say Im hooked on handguns! I want more of them! :D

"....45 ACP has serious recoil is a wimp..." It can, depending on the ammo. Still not the cannon old magazine articles said it is. Target loads are decidedly pleasant to shoot.
"...how far does your brass go?..." A lot depends on the ammo. Sometimes the ejector. Two 'stalls' isn't very far.
"...on the final shot..." Looks like the case wasn't ejected and got jammed on the slide. Might have had a wee bit of grit under the extractor.

Yeah I guess my ammo has allot to do with the recoil. The ammo I was using was 230JHP by Fiocchi (the only ammo in stock at the time).

The brass was flying about 9 feet (give or take a foot), granted Ive never really shot handguns allot so I cant say if thats far or not.

Thats what I figured on the final shot. The slide locked open and when I looked to clear the gun that casing was still there. What can you expect from a damn Norinco :p

The 1911 in .45 is in my opinion one of the best guns around.
I am just finishing building another one.

It is a heavy bullet but the velocity is lower than say a .40 and is spread over a longer period of time. I find the .40 has an unpleasant snap to it.

In the 1911 the strength of the recoil spring will also affect the felt recoil.

Wow a 1911 that almost went one session without jamming up. That's front page news right there! Why do stock out of the box 1911's suck so much?

Why do you cause trouble on every thread you go on?

1911's are fantastic guns with a huge following..

Your gun is new ? my norc did that a couple times for the first 150 rounds. Now it's history

JasonS Come shoot my $350 norinco , Ill give you 100 rounds + $100 is you get a malfonction. but if you dont you PAy . how about naked run at the next gun show with a sign saying: I am a NORK ? :D

Damn! You're in Kay-bek.:( I would have taken you up on that.

And a fragile ego it seems. Relax. If you own one you gotta expect it just like Norinco owners and Savage owners or Ford or Chevy etc.....toughen up.

1911's are all like norinco's? huh?

Yes I do own a 1911 (made in the USA) but it is far from my favorite gun.

My issue is that you rag on the OP's choice of gun for no apparent reason after he states of a positive experience he had.

Hi Drache,
My Norinco 1911 had this exact malfuntion from time to time with the UMC ammos. Not only that but almost every brass I would pick up had the same marks on them. I switched ammos and this problem disapeared.

The glock 21 feels like you are shooting a 22. If only it didn't feel like you were shooting that 22 from a plastic brick I would have kept mine!

I do find my 1911 has less "snap" then my 226 in 9mm.

No sense anyone getting their nose out of joint over someone slagging the 1911. 99 years later, I think it's case has been made.

Looks like you need to bump your extractor tension slightly. With no round in the magazine helping to keep the base of the extracting case from dropping downwards as it is extracted, the ejector will hit high, sending the case bouncing out on a lower than optimum vector into the ejection port, where it gets trapped. Note that not enough tension also randomizes the exit vector since it will be hitting in a slightly different position every time. There should be enough tension to hold a live round against the breach face without falling out.

It's probably less than a five minute fix.

Hope this helps.

I'd suggest that you hold on to adjusting the sights after just one range trip. I don't know what kind of trigger you have on your 1911, but give it some more time and make sure that you are not pulling the gun to your right when you pull the trigger.

Two other people were having the same problems but I'll wait for another range trip. But being left handed though wouldn't the gun pull to the left when pulling the trigger?

Like I said the day went nice and the only "problem" was the bent casing, but like I said it was the very last shot of the day and had no problems from the 99 rounds that came before it. :D

Depends how you hold the gun and what your trigger pull is.... Place your finger to far to either side and it can pull or push....
