Does anyone here know a lot about these guns?

i have a nice one locked away, serial # 33###. it was manufactured in 1855 according to the serial #

i have seen them selling online anywhere from 2K to 20K... I am trying to determine the value of mine.

My uncle is a gunsmith and we spent the day yesterday taking it apart, cleaning it and reassembling it. We replaced the bolt and the hand & spring assembly (i kept the 2 original broken parts). The rest of the gun is numbers matching and 100% original. It functions beautifully now and action is very tight and precise. No i don't plan on shooting it.

Could be about 42,000 made according to a short list I have which also puts your # in the 1855 year. They were made 1853-56 in London factory. Very few used in US Civil war and only those private purchase. Vast majority stayed in British empire including Canada. In another book it states how many here inCanada I think around 2,000? As mentioned in another thread the Upper/Lower Canada stamped ones more valuable. Usually I see 1851 Colt Navy London's every Sunday at the S. Ontario Gun Shows for $2,000 range, have one myself. Only seen a few asking $4,000 on the net. Condition is very important as with all collectables.
 
Thanks for the info QM... mine would have come over from Ireland with my great grandparents. Not planning on selling it, so i guess value is not that important... i was just curious.
