S&w m&p 1522

Chemist, I was reading through Smith & Wesson's website, and they claim the action on this rimfire is totally new and the only "AR" compatable parts are the accessories. How is that a variant?

Don't ask a reasonable man to explain why the waterheads at the RCMP firearms lab do what they do.

You need to be asking the RCMP firearms lab that question, not Chemist... It is obviously not a variant but that doesn't seem to stop them.

I like to think I'm reasonable and I think it is easy to explain. The RCMP firearms lab wants to prohibit every semi, every black gun and every handgun in the country. They are not our friends, they do not play by the rules and they will continue to push this agenda forward until someone kicks them in the balls and makes them step back in line.

At the moment we are waiting on the Henderson verdict, which will be the first kick if it goes our way (and there is a decent chance of that). After that will come the reference hearings for the T97 confiscations. The way the RCMP is acting regarding their super-secret method of converting the T97 to full auto, it is very possible they will lose that one, too.

Keep writing letters to your MP and keep fighting. One day we will be able to take the M&P 1522 out shooting gophers and the RCMP firearms techs will be looking for real jobs instead of leeching our tax dollars to screw law abiding citizens over.

I'm buying one AND it will not be restricted after the Henderson appeal is settled, mark my legally non-binding words, but I'll be part of whatever de-restricts these. This classification goes directly against the Judges findings on Imitation vs Variant. It's not an AR15, it's a rim fire imitation of one. It poses no 'special threat' to justify it's restriction as a .22 Rimfire ONLY rifle.

AEI will be selling these as soon as there is an FRT. IIRC we're also in at $579. Have to confirm that.

chemist, still not seeing the FRT showing up in the online system? It must be hot off the presses?

Thats not exactly what I'm doing. Chemist is a dealer. He has been given an FRT number that does not agree with what he knows the product to be. That should give him the ability to file a reference hearing and challenge this. I'm assuming that is something that would be in his best interest and would be undertaken?

We just have been advised these are confirmed restricted by the distributor and they will be shipping to us immediately. Can't confirm price and number available until tomorrow as I have some back orders to fill first. Phil.

Hope the rc's don't read this because the ar15, the mp1522, and the sr22 can all the same accessories. The s&w and ruger probably are equally like an ar. So why one and not the other

S&W M&P 1522 are on the way...$550, extra mag $39. Also coming are the Colt AR 1522...$799. They should be here in a week or so. We are taking back orders as only a few are coming in this shipment. Phil.

I presume that the Colt AR 15/22 is definitely restricted? :(

I would blow a lot more dough at P & D these days if the cool stuff wasn't restricted.... I guess my wife and my bank account can thank the RCMP for that...

Range toys take all the fun out of shooting... :(

Nevermind... it is restricted.... :(

Guess it is time for an SR22. I am not going to even bother with the SIG556/22, I am sure for some reason or another, it will be restricted.... ie; too short or something.... :(

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Can anyone explain why the S&W is restricted and the SR22 isn't. From the reviews they both look the same to me?

This is the perfect test case that shows the RCMP doesn't have a clue when it comes to classifying guns. Maybe I am missing something here, but this seems absolutely crazy. Guess I will be getting an SR22. Dress it up to look just like an AR. Probably spend all my time explaining to cops out in the country that it is legal.

I want one in the worst way....but the restricted part is holding me back, I assume it will be the same for many people, I have an AR and a CX4 storm that can only be used at the range now, the thing im struggling with is do I feel like adding to that list. My local range is indoors so it makes shooting these rifles less exciting, I've had my AR for 2years and had it to the range 2x, sad...I don't have the confidence that Dangertree has in the restricted ruling being turned around, if so I would buy one in a heartbeat the sad reality is I can't ever see the RCMP reversing the restriction if anything you may see the SR 22 become restricted as well as the remy.

If you look closer, you will see that the S&W is a semi-auto .22 styled to look exactly like an AR. On the surface, the S&W appears virtually identical to any off the shelf AR and S&W's advertising literature even refers to it as an AR relpica. Thus, the RCMP have deemed it to be an AR-15 variant and therefore restricted. Pure and utter bull####, but (at least for now) they make the rules.

The SR-22, on the other hand, is a Ruger 10/22. It is just a Ruger 10/22 that comes with a fancy dress up stock kit that takes AR accessories. So, even though I'm sure they would love to, the RCMP has no real grounds to make it restricted.

Make sense? No? Well join the club.... :)

if someone makes a mag that looks like an AR mag for the sr22,that would satisfy everyone who wants the AR looking .22. I know I would.
