get a smith and wesson mp 9. now, your gonna hear a lot of that 92's and glock 17's. try them all out and find what fits you best. you'll hear a lot of that too lol.

and you'll hear cz's

I have my restricted but have yet to purchase a handgun. For cheap fun people seem to really like the Norinco 9mm. $300 isn't too much to spend to try out the sport.
Just a thought...

Be smart and buy yourself a decent (or better) .22
A Ruger Mk I Or Mk II, an MCM (Margolin), a S&W model 17 (or 617) or Model 41 or maybe a Browning Challenger or Buckmark.

You're parroting off a bunch of names at the moment and perhaps you have looked at pictures and like the looks of them. But it's how they shoot that counts. You're in Alberta. Find or make an excuse to get into Edmonton and go to The Shooting Edge and spend some money on their Rent-A-Gun ammo and try out all the guns they have.

9mm costs the least for ammo so that should be a BIG part of your decision. But if you know you won't be shooting all that much and you fall in love with 1911's then even shooting .45acp isn't bad if you only shoot a few hundred rounds a year.

Also for many of us handguns really only come into their own if we are using them to shoot some of the various matches that test both us and the gun. Things such as IPSC, IDPA, and local club specialty matches can add a huge amount to your handgunning pleasure. But in these cases you want to stick to something that is both cheap to shoot and is on the approved lists for the organizations that worry about such things.

I agree other than The Shooting Edge is in Calgary....................CZ!........

H&K USP 9mm. Accurate, light and very dependable.

X2, or a P30 wichever floats your boat...

you mention DE, Beretta and Sig, seems to me you like steel gun.
if the Desert Eagle was the one you wanted, maybe have a look at a IWI Jerico (baby eagle) much more affordable and I heard good things about them, I personally think they look pretty good too.

Don't go on looks or "cool factor".

Get what fits you the best.
